Captain and Tennille divorce after 39 years of marriage

The famous 1970s musical duo of Toni Tennille and Daryl Dragon have decided to call it quits after 39 years of marriage.

Better known together as Captain and Tennille, the Grammy Award-winning pair is famous for catchy '70s hits like “Love Will Keep Us Together” and “Do That to Me One More Time” and briefly hosted their own TV variety show.

The couple’s split has been confirmed via their official website

“…everything relating to THE CAPTAIN & TENNILLE appeared to the public as them being the ideal model for a "rock-solid' married pair. But almost all people naturally evolve over time, & sometimes hidden feelings start to be uncovered when one may read, just a little more into (the popularized, substitute heading appearing just below), stating, for instance: ‘MUSIC HAS KEPT THEM TOGETHER’”

According to TMZ, Daryl, 71, is perplexed by the announcement. "I don't know why she filed.  I gotta figure it out for myself first,” he told them. He also revealed that they are still living in the same house. The website is speculating that Toni, 73, filed the divorce for health insurance reasons, as mentioned in divorce documents. Daryl was diagnosed with Parkinson’s years ago and it is unclear whether this decision was made so that he could receive better health coverage or for other marital reasons.
