After more than a month, Tom Bryne, nighttime host for 97.5 The Fanatic, remains on leave from the sports-talk station as a result of being arrested last month and charged with aggravated assault and robbery over his alleged beating of a cab driver.
Through the station, Byrne apologized for his actions last month and said he would be taking leave while "he works through these issues," read a statement from Greater Media, which owns the Fanatic.
Byrne's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 17.
We checked in with Greater Media about if and when Byrne would return, but the company had no comment. Reached yesterday on his cellphone, Byrne also declined to comment.

- I've listened to him and frankly, going against the majority here, he's not bad at all. Fair and obective, tells it like it is..... Byrnes' Eagles game after shows were usually on the mark. It is the hope here that the guy returns to his old time slot.
The one taking his timeslot right now is absolutely horrid. Has no sense of Philly sports history unless we go back 3 years, max. After the opening monologue I usually go to 610 where Rob Ellis does a fair enough job on air......
I miss the old pros like Steve Fredericks, Don McKee....guys who lived and died with some pretty bad Philly sports teams including some heartbreaking ones that scarred many for life. There should be a slot for guys like these somewhere on radio.....
