Oh, and she’s also engaged now.
“Besides being cancer free, I have some other exciting news to share,” Saltzman wrote on Facebook. "I’m engaged to the love of my life Craig Johnston. He stood by me during the cancer diagnosis, mastectomy, and continued treatment. And then he surprised me this weekend with a beautiful proposal and ring. I couldn’t be any happier or more blessed.”
Saltzman’s update comes following a February announcement regarding her cancer, which was then followed by a bilateral mastectomy in March. Initially diagnosed in Dec. 2016, Saltzman did not begin treatment until she took a leave of absence from 6ABC in February this year, saying online that she believed she was “too healthy to have cancer.”
“I’m sure most people in my shoes think the same thing,” she added in a statement regarding her diagnosis earlier this year. The reporter also told fans that she would undergo a bilateral mastectomy, radiation treatments, and “possibly hormone therapy.”
“So much beauty has come out of a really trying time,” Saltzman said on Facebook today. “Thanks for all the love during my recovery.”
Saltzman has been at 6ABC since 2012. She said via social media that she would return to the station from her leave of absence “soon.”
