NBC10 anchor and reporter Lori Wilson is leaving for her homestate of Indiana, where she'll anchor CBS-affialiated WISH-TV's “24-Hour News 8 at 5PM.” She'll also report for their 11 p.m. newscast. WISH-TV serves central Indiana, including Indianapolis.
Wilson has been with NBC10 since 2005 when she joined as a general assignment reporter. She also spent four years co-hosting "The 10! Show."
Wilson is originally from Columbus, Indiana and received her BA from Indiana University. “After almost 16 years covering news in other cities, I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to work in my hometown, for the station I grew up watching,” Wilson told WISH-TV.
She added, "For me, coming home is about much more than just being close to family and friends, it's about having a chance to serve the community that gave me so much."
UPDATE: I chatted with Lori while she was shopping for Mother's Day cards (be forewarned, johnny-come-latelys, she said the good ones are taken). "It’s bittersweet because I love Philadelphia and, definitely, this is my home. But it’ll be nice to be close to my parents, especially at this stage in their lives," Wilson told me. So what will she miss most about Philly? "I love my church, my guy is here. Those things will be hard adjustments. It’s just the people. When you move around a lot, cities are cities, but the people of Philadelphia have been so kind to embrace me."
A rep from NBC10 also added their thoughts. "Lori Wilson’s warm personality, her professionalism, and her love of the community is well known and admired at NBC10. We’re sad to see her go, but we’re thrilled for her that she has this opportunity to return to her family and hometown."
But Wilson said she'll definitely be back in Philly. "It’s not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later," Wilson said.
Watch her goodbye from this morning below.
