Wiz Khalifa has offered his condolences to the family of a fan who was shot dead at the rapper's concert in Mountain View, California on Friday.

The unnamed 38-year-old man was shot several times at the Shoreline Amphitheater venue after the hip-hop star had finished his set. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but died on Saturday. Police have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. The reveller's death prompted Khalifa to cancel his Saturday night show in Chula Vista, California, and he extended his sympathy to the victim's relatives.

In a series of posts on Twitter.com, he writes, "Due to a situation out of our control, tonight's... show is canceled... This was a senseless tragedy. Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim's family."

He is due back on stage in Irvine, California on Sunday night.
