Mel Gibson's battery conviction for slapping his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva has been wiped from his record.

The Braveheart star was sentenced to 16 hours of community service and 52 weeks of counseling, in addition to three years of probation, after pleading no contest to striking his former lover in 2011. His probation period ended in March (14) and he filed an application to have the charge expunged earlier this month (May14). His request has since been granted and a judge has now officially removed the conviction from Gibson's record, according to TMZ.com.

Gibson split from the Russian pianist, who is the mother of his young daughter Lucia, in 2010 and they fought a bitter custody battle, during which she accused the actor/director of lashing out at her during a fight.
