Meteorologist Dave Warren doesn't seem long for NBC10

POSTED: Monday, August 20, 2012, 7:44 AM

We have to question whether meteorologist Dave Warren is long for NBC 10. The station has been running promos for its weather team: Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz, Sheena Parveen, Bill Henley and Michelle Grossman, but Warren is conspicuously absent from the spots.

Furthermore, the station is advertising for an open meteorologist position.

A station spokeswoman declined to comment on whether Warren is leaving.

Warren did not return a request for comment. We reported recently that Warren and his wife, Alison Frick, who sells real estate, are expecting twins around Christmas.

On Friday, NBC 10's Terry Ruggles, who started as a general-assignment reporter in 1974, announced he would retire from the station in December. Ruggles received a standing ovation when news director Anzio Willliams announced his departure in a morning meeting. Until recently, Ruggles had been morning news anchor, but was recently transfered back to reporting.

WOW, real classy NBC. I've watched Dave and I think he does just as good as the other meteorologists. If you're a station looking for ratings, why would you want to make yourself look bad by letting someone go when you know his wife is pregnant with twins?

Take note of the complexion of the news director, Anzio Williams. Let's just say, the next forecaster will not be a blue-eyed WASP.

What a shame if true. Philadelphia has been fortunate to have experienced meteorolgists like Hurricane and Dave Warren to turn to when the tough weather calls need to be made. NBC10 should rethink this one, Hurricane's going to want to retire someday, who's going to be qualified to fill the void?

Our family has been watching Dave since he started on the air...He is absolutely amazing at his profession and deserves much more than this station has done to him. I agree that it's pretty sad that the station decided to replace him right before he expecting twins. Their LOSE!!! He is going to do an excellent job for someone else!!!!!

Seriously, Why do you need 5 weather people at 1 tv station??? Seems like a good place to cut payroll. Keep the hot chick Sheena. Only reason I watch Nbc10 for.

I can understand the need to bring in a hot bimbo to get people to tune in, but to keep them watching, you need the quality weather forecast that Dave provides.
