Roland Martin, who is oft seen wearing an Ascot, launched his own line of fashionable Ascots in 2010.

CNN has suspended Roland Martin for making “regrettable and offensive” remarks demeaning gays on Super Bowl Sunday.

Shocking, no?

The cable news network actually acted after taking a demur three-day time-out.

“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive,” CNN says in a statement.

“Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated. We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”

What exactly does it mean to be suspended from CNN? Will Roland be paid or not?

How long will his time-out last?

Will he be fired?

Will he receive a polite, coded message that he should cut his losses and resign?

The link to the aforementioned remarks points to a "Page not found."

Roland Martin is The Great American Fisherman. And, he's on TBS, not CNN.

Who's that guy in the picture up there?

this is a non-event. he will be back on the air in record time. whatever he wrote or said, it will ultimately be tolerated and his suspension revoked, but not without CNN taking great pains to let all of us know how regrettable his actions were and how they would not be tolerated again. A public apology will be arranged and a show on diversity will be produced and aired, and he will come out the other end of this as a hero.

    Just watch.

Everyone is afraid of "offending" someone...God help this country when you can't speak your mind. America is going to hell in a hand basket. Whatever you do, don't offend the gays and lesbians....

How many times do we have to go over this? This is not a FREEDOM OF SPEECH issue! The police didn't arrest him. He is not on trial. He was suspended for doing something stupid and it was a BUSINESS DECISION on CNN's part! Why is it so damned difficult for people to get the issue of FREEDOM OF SPEECH in their damned heads? He had the FREEDOM OF SPEECH to say stupid stuff and people have the FREEDOM OF SPEECH to call him out on his stupidity and CNN had the FREEDOM to suspend him because of public outcry!

Weak. Did he say smack the "ish" out of a "gay" man? No. Not only do we have to worry about what we say, but how someone will interpret it?

    Ridiculous.

(Sorry if I offended anyone with the usage of the word "Ridiculous.")

(Sorry if I offended anyone with my apology.)

Good ridance!! This guy did nothing but stir the pot no matter what the subject. Always had a chip on his shoulder and was never wrong.Just a matter of time now before he and his buddies Al and Jesse play the "race card". It's a given.

Agreed. Although I never watched him on CNN, I read some of the stuff he wrote when he started writing for CNN.com, and I would always wonder how this guy got a job. He was not a deep thinker--very superficial--and often completely clueless about the real issue he was writing about.
