Public schools in America aren’t exactly rolling in dosh, given the economic meltdown and lawmakers’ ever-tightening purse strings when it comes to anything soft and girlie like education, the arts, social welfare. So, it was a shock to hear that gigantonormous teachers’ union the National Education Association, has turned down a generous donation.
Well, it’s not so hard to understand given the would-be benefactor’s name — Sasha Grey.
The infamous 23-year-old former hardcore porn star turned photographer artist and thesp offered to give the NEA a portion of the profits from sales of Anal Artists, which features her last hardcore scene. Given Grey’s notoriety, the film is expected to make a pile.
Grey, who made headlines in November when she participated in a Read Across America program as a celeb guest reader at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, Calif., wanted to give the NEA the cash to further expose children to literature.
The NEA didn’t mince words. “Sasha Grey is not affiliated with the National Education Association’s Read Across America program nor has she been invited or endorsed by NEA to read at any of the association’s Read Across America Day events, and NEA will not accept any proceeds from her latest, or any of her films,” the org tells the Huffington Post in a statement.
Grey’s post-porn acting career includes guest spots on HBO’s Entourage and the lead in Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience.
