WITH UPDATE: See below!
Has life in this, her apocalyptic post-Ashton Kutcher, era been too hard to bear?
Paramedics rushed Demi, 49, to a local hospital Monday night after receiving a 911 call from her Los Angeles pad.
News of the incident was masterfully hidden until last night, when TMZ broke the sad tale.
The celeb news outlet cites an Anonymous Source who says Demi has been placed in a “facility” to “seek further professional assistance” with substance abuse.
Demi’s people tell a different – sanitized? – story:
“Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health," her rep says in a statement.
"She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.”
UPDATE: Demi had a seizure?
In a disturbing addendum to an already troubling series of reports about Demi Moore's physical and mental condition, RadarOnline reports that Demi actually was rushed to the hospital Monday because she had a seizure.
"She collapsed after having an epileptic seizure," RadarOnline's unnamed source says about what the site calls a "frightening medical emergency."
The celeb site piles it on: Not only does RardarOnline suggest Demi suffers from some form of epilepsy (no shame in it: Many a great artist and philosopher have had epilepsy), it also alleges Demi is grappling with anorexia.
"She has not taken care of her health at all lately and has lost a ton of weight," the source says.
Before long, the poor woman will be saddled with every disease and psychological malady known to humankind.
UPDATE 2: She was doing what??!!
TMZ says A Demi friend called 911 on that fateful night not because the actor had a seizure of some sort after doing whip-its. "A whip-it is a street name for a type of nitrous oxide inhalant," TMZ explains.
