Quote du jour: Mrs. Lincoln was rad

"She can definitely kick a little ass," says the cute-actress'-cute-actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead of Mary Todd Lincoln after conducting rigorous research on President Lincoln's first lady.

Winstead, currently splashed all over the big screen in gory sci-fi shocker prequel The Thing, studied Mrs. Lincoln in preparation for playing the proto-feminist heroine in the not-entirely-historically-accurate drama about the first lady's activities as a vampire hunter in the forthcoming biopic, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. "In my research of her I really like her," says Winstead, who says the first lady was "feisty" and "sassy."

And adaptation of the historical romance by mash-up novel specialist Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), the Timur Bekmambetov-helmed movie features Benjamin Walker as President Lincoln. It’s due June 22, 2012

Here's a book trailer for Grahame-Smith's accomplished novel.
