Adam Sandler leads Razzie Award nominations with ‘Grown Ups 2’

Adam Sandler ended 2013 as ForbesMost Overpaid Actor, and it looks like 2014 isn’t starting off any better. The formerly beloved funnyman leads this year’s Razzies in nomination numbers with eight for his latest stinker, Grown Ups 2.

Sure, we’ll find out who had the best movies of 2013 with the Oscar noms tomorrow, but it is important to recognize the worst in film, too. Enter the Razzies, in its 34th edition this year.

Sandler’s Grown Ups 2 is currently up for worst sequel, picture, screenplay, director, and acting (one nomination a piece for Sandler, Taylor Lautner, and Salma Hayek). With stats like that, this year could end up as the most embarrassing sweep of Sandler’s career. But, apparently, even that’s not worse than Grown Ups 2.

Other worst picture nominees include The Long Ranger, A Madea Christmas, and the unfortunate Will Smith vehicle, After Earth. In fact, Jaden Smith is up for worst actor alongside Johnny Depp for his role in Long Ranger and Halle Berry for both The Call and Movie 43.

This year’s “winners” will be announced March 1, but until then you can vote for the Worst Screen Combo over at Rotten Tomatoes. After that, it’s all over but the crying.

Until next year, anyway.
