$80,000 Oscar gift bags include procedures for hair, sex drive

They say it’s an honor just to be nominated. Honor is not the only thing showered upon Hollywood’s most celebrated actors and filmmakers at this year’s Academy Awards.

Oscar nominees will also receive gift bags with a collection of goodies valued at over $80,000— twice the value of last year’s favors. The contents include everything from a $280 package of maple syrup, to a $6.49 DrainWig to keep hair out of shower drains.

These goodie bags, which are often regifted to assistants, chauffeurs, and publicists, might have greater value to some celebs than others.

Bradley Cooper likely doesn’t have much need for the most valuable item, a $16,000 hair restoration procedure voucher from a Chicago surgeon, nor should he find occasion to receive an “O-shot”-- a procedure to stimulate a woman’s sex drive, valued at $2,700.

A company called Distinctive Assets is charged with assembling these eclectic loot bags, which a variety of vendors hope to fill with their products for publicity.

It’s hard to imagine how many of items actually fit into one take-home bag, but one thing is clear: the Phillies need to step up their promotional schedule. Herbal tea lollipops might not work as an enticing draw for sports fans, but Citizens Bank Park would be standing room only for “$9,000 trip to Las Vegas Night.”

Take a look at the complete list of gifts, and let us know what you’d like to see in your Oscar gift bag.
