Len's crafters

I will point you to this portrait of one of the founding members of the Divers, Len Davidson, who has a passion for neon, especially old, or classic, or "vintage" neon, and who will be speaking on Thursday on the topic of neon and its history in Philly.

Been a while since we had a Dumpster Diver Dispatch, but here's one. Since the last update the Divers' gallery on South Street, which as you'll recall was there rent-free until the landlord found a tenant, flourished over 11 months and then closed when, well, the landlord found a tenant. More Dumpster Diver shows are coming up around the area, though, and we'll keep you posted as details get nailed down.

Today, though, I will point you to this portrait of one of the founding members of the Divers, Len Davidson, who has a passion for neon, especially old, or classic, or "vintage" neon, and who will be speaking on Thursday on the topic of neon and its history in Philly. Here's a chance to learn more about neon signwork and why an increasing number of people such as Davidson see it as a unique form of folk art. Also, if you attend the talk on Thursday you'll see 13 of the vintage pieces Davidson has collected, which are housed at the Center for Architecture at 1218 Arch Street.
