North Broad Neighbors Coalition

Neighbors around proposed Blatstein casino -- The Provence -- will raise money for traffic study.

North Broad Neighbors Coalition

The coalition of neighbors who are worried about the impact of Bart Blatstein's proposed casino are raising funds to conduct a traffic study. Lawyer Kevin Greenberg represents the North Broad Community Coalition Inc. "Traffic is an issue for the two Center City casinos," he said in an interview Thursday. (The second downtown propsal is Market8, at 8th and Market Streets and spearheaded by developer Ken Goldenberg.)

Blatstein's project would be anchored by the old Inquirer tower and stretch from Broad and Callowhill to 17th Street. His traffic report turns up no problems.

But Greenberg calls that study "insufficient." For starters, he thinks an independent study should focus on traffic patterns for the crunch hour from 5 to 6 p.m. and look at the potential impact on intersections on Spring Garden and near the Eakins Oval.
