Flyers' Richards could see limited minutes

All of Canada has been waiting for tonight's puck drop since July 2, 2003 – the date the IOC awarded Vancouver's bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Flyers forward Mike Richards might have to keep waiting.

Both NHL.com and the NHL Live radio program have reported this afternoon that Richards will be one of Canada's healthy scratches for tonight's game against Norway (7:30, CNBC).Richards skated as Canada's 13th forward in practice on Tuesday night.

However, in international play, teams can dress 13 forwards and seven defensemen. That likely will mean Richards will see limited minutes and split time with Drew Doughty. In Game 1, Team USA is splitting the 12th and 13th forward duties between Ryan Callahan and Chris Drury.

Here were Canada's lines:

Nash-Crosby-Bergeron
Staal-Getzlaf-Perry
Marleau-Thornton-Heatley
Morrow-Toews-Iginla

Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger will likely start on Canada's first pairing with Dan Boyle.

Roberto Luongo is expected to start in net, with Martin Brodeur getting the nod Thursday.

Also, TSN's Darren Dreger tweeted today that Flyers forward Jeff Carter – who was flown to Vancouver as a possible alternate for Ryan Getzlaf – did not fly home yesterday as reported. Carter will apparently stick around in Vancouver to watch tonight's game against Norway – he just didn't expect to be seated next to Richards.
