Tina Fey: 3 times hosting Globes is 'plenty'

Free-flowing alcohol may have helped make the Golden Globes one of Hollywood's livelier awards shows, but co-hosting them with Amy Poehler for three years running hasn't yet driven Upper Darby's Tina Fey to drink. Not that some haven't tried.

Free-flowing alcohol may have helped make the Golden Globes one of Hollywood's livelier awards shows, but co-hosting them with Amy Poehler for three years running hasn't yet driven Upper Darby's Tina Fey to drink.

Not that some haven't tried.

The first year she and Poehler hosted, she said, someone wanted the pair to hold glasses of Scotch, possibly not realizing that Fey's not much of a drinker.

"I thought they were just going to pour Diet Coke in the glass and somebody poured" the real thing, said Fey in an interview Wednesday during the Television Critics Association's winter meetings, where she and producing partner Robert Carlock ("30 Rock") were promoting their new sitcom, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," which debuts on Netflix March 6.

Seriously funny, but also funnily serious, Fey doesn't necessarily see herself as obvious Golden Globes host material, even now.

"Well, I think it's because I'm there with my cool friend Amy,"  that she's invited to the party, Fey said, jokingly agreeing that she's "Hollywood's designated driver."

"We're going to make sure everybody gets home safe."

But after that, she's done. Really.

"This is the last time we're going to do it. We signed up to do it three times and this is the third one … because that's plenty, she said."

"You can't take your kids to Disneyland every year. [Pause] Or can you?"

She also scotched  Carlock's suggestion that she could host "Oscars next year."

"Nope, never. So hard, so hard."
