Hef's hutch? It's for the birds (and the monkeys)
For a man who's supposedly devoted most of his adult life to the celebration of sex, Hugh Hefner does seem to require a lot of distractions. Monkeys, peacocks, exotic birds were the draw at tonight's Playboy Channel party at Hef's Holmby Hills home, a cross between England's Hampton Court and a slightly upscale miniature golf course. If, you know, golf courses had pet cemeteries. And then there was the overcrowded game room, the kind that would've wowed a teenage boy back in 1972, and beyond that a different kind of game room, with a padded floor, some suggestively placed boxes of tissues and a truly startling number of electrical outlets. But then that floor probably requires a lot of vacuuming. I never laid eyes on Hefner -- I'm told it's the night he plays gin rummy and that he goes to bed early -- but I did meet Janice Dickinson, whose latest "reality" TV adventure has the onetime supermodel as one of the famous people contributing stories to a a show called "Celebrity Sex Tales," which then animates them. Really. So why is Dickinson, who said she hadn't been to the Playboy Mansion since her days as a young model, doing on the show? Let's just say she has a 17-year-old daughter who has her eyes on Harvard. Finally, a celebrity tale I totally believe.
