FX's 'Sons of Anarchy' roars back with ratings record
FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” already the most-watches series in the cable network’s history, broke its own record Tuesday night, attracting an estimated average audience of 4.94 million viewers to its 90-minute Season 4 premiere, the most ever for the series. Combined with the evening’s second run, the motorcycle gang drama racked up some 7.25 million total viewers, nearly 5 million of them in the advertiser-targeted range of 18-49, FX said Wednesday. The series, which began as modern-day “Hamlet” on wheels, stars Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller, the deeply conflicted stepson of Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), leader of an outlaw motorcycle club in Charming, Calif., and son of Clay’s “old lady” Gemma (Katey Sagal). Created by Kurt Sutter (“The Shield”), who has a recurring role on the show and who in real life is married to Sagal, it’s a wild ride that’s getting wilder by the season: Good news for a network that after tonight, won't have "Rescue Me" anymore.
