Beyond 'Fringe': Blair Brown on 'Falling Skies'

Blair Brown ("Fringe") pops up in a completely different parallel universe Sunday as "Falling Skies" (10 p.m. TNT) finds Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) and a sleep-deprived Capt. Weaver (Will Patton) on a recon mission to what must've been a nice neighborhood once.

It's the first episode I've seen in a while, having watched a good chunk of this first season -- seven hours -- in one lost Sunday not long before the show's June premiere.

And I'm still intrigued by the series, a twist on the alien-invasion theme that executive producer Steven Spielberg has explored so often, with a bit of "Jericho" thrown in. "Falling Skies" continues its tease about the true intention of the critters that, to be honest, look to me like standard-issue movie extraterrestrials but may yet turn out to have a more interesting agenda than most.

Or not.

With three more episodes to go in the season -- the show's already been picked up for a second year  -- I'm hoping to see some daylight on that point soon.
