Yo, Jay Z, can we get an encore?
The city’s still on a high over last weekend’s Budweiser Made in America Festival.
Yeah, the official numbers are still out, and we don’t know yet what the overall economic impact on Philly is. But the city was buzzing over the weekend as nearly 100,000 ticket holders descended upon the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The event was peaceful with police reporting just one arrest.
I was among the skeptics when this event was announced. I couldn't get past certain rap lyrics. You know what I'm talking about. But I have to say, you pulled off Made in America with style. What a lineup – Pearl Jam, Jill Scott, D’Angelo, Drake, Run DMC and more. I can’t remember when the city has had so much going on over a Labor Day weekend. With the addition of more middle-of-the-road-type acts, I think you can grow this festival so it can be even bigger and even more well attended.
We understand that you’re considering it. As you weigh your options, may I remind you of what you said on Oprah Winfrey’s "Master Class?" It was, “I believe excellence is being able to perform at a high level over and over.”
So, I ask again, Jay Z, can we get an encore?
