Bristol Palin

If life throws you a curveball, become a spokesperson. Miss California Carrie Prejean wound up advocating in favor of  marriage after her dustup over the gay marriage issue with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

And now, unwed mother Bristol Palin has landed a similar role. According to The Associated Press,  the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been appointed as a Teen Ambassador for The Candie's Foundation.  Bristol will participate in a town hall meeting Wednesday in New York.

She said in a statement that she wants to be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy. And, yes, she'll be paid. No word yet, though, on how much.

HEY JEN- we are still waiting on "the word" about how much YOU get paid. You do get paid for this cut and paste job, don't you?

This is crazy. Obviously she couldn't be abstinate herself, yet she thinks she's the one who should tell other young females to do so? Her situation is in no way typical of the average teenage female who gets pregnant. Her mom makes almost a quarter million a year. I doubt that Bristol's child will ever have to see an ACCESS card.

Clearly drewrob23 you are missing the point. That she isn't "typical" only reinforces how much it HAS affected her and will continue to in the future, regardless of her parents' income.

I'm not missing the point at all. Maybe your experience with this issue is vast but I also have experience with this myself. If you really feel that this young women's life will be dramatically changed for the worse because of her being a single mother, you're totally mistaken. The average women who has a child out of wedlock is not typically made a "champion" for abstinate women. If they wanted a real ambassador the smart thing would have been for them to find a person who hasn't engaged in sexual activity. Instead they picked someone because of their "alleged" star power. I'm sure they can find real role models and not this joke.

Wow!! She had a baby out of wedlock, she (and her family) act like she's gonna marry the guy, recants cause that was never the case (but to make it look better), and now she's getting paid to advocate against it?????? Am I the only one that's normal anymore???? Jen, is this cool???? Stupid politics to keep up images, lifestyles, & income. What makes her qualified to be an advocate, cause she comes from a good family yet this happens to her anyway??? Like she's the first......Puhhhleeeassse! Does anybody think she's actually gonna change ANYTHING????

I am completely convinced that America has an obsession with moronic behavior. Let me re-phrase that: the American media has a fascination with dopeheads.

I think it's sort of like a traffic accident. You know you shouldn't slow down and rubberneck, but you can't stop yourself.

About time, she could be on baby #3 by now. Geez, she and her mother... waste of life.

Since this is still up, I'll say one last thing. This is like Snoop Dogg sayin "don't smoke weed y'all". Caugh Caugh. Don't smoke the trees. We need 'em for paper & whatnot.

About Jenice Armstrong
What’s up, everyone? Welcome. Let's discuss whatever's on our minds - pop culture, relationships, politics, even the latest fashion trend. If you read my Daily News column, you know I like to mix it up: One day, it's the state of hip hop and the next, the latest political race. Also, it's always fun to try to figure out the opposite sex and check the latest trends. It’s all about learning from each other, exchanging ideas and hopefully making some changes for the better. Nothing is off limits - just keep it clean and civil.

WOULDN'T YOU love to be close enough to eavesdrop if Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ever agrees to have a cup of coffee with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin? One can only imagine that their java summit might go something like this:
Jenice Armstrong; I think of myself as pretty frank, but there are certain opinions people are better off keeping to themselves, like when it comes to romance.

Enter Steve Ward and JoAnn Ward, Philly-area matchmakers and stars of a wildly popular new reality TV show.
Jenice Armstrong: Remember the Miss Black America pageant? Organizers want to bring it back. Should they? Or has the pageant outlived its purpose?
NEWSPAPERS have long enjoyed dueling images - one as bastions of gentlemanlike civility and the other as busy, cluttered places where gruff city editors chain-smoked and cussed out reporters whenever they felt like it.
LIKE THE TITLE character in "Precious," the new Lee Daniels' film, this 14-year-old Philadelphia girl had been raped by a relative and infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
Jenice Armstrong: First lady Michelle Obama' has white cousins? Oh, my gosh! Can you believe it? Well, yeah. Just about every black American I know has white relatives.
Jenice Armstrong: It was kind of like being at a Tupperware party but instead of the focus being on plastic containers, the conversation centered on sex.
FIRST LADY Michelle Obama graces the cover of the December issue of Glamour. What's even more interesting is that in the accompanying article, she gives dating advice. Given that all the single women I know who are searching for their own version of Barack Obama, her advice is worth paying attention to.
Can't we all just get along? Not if one of us is from Philly and the other's from New York, with the Phils and Yankees squaring off tonight. Jenice Armstrong talks about how her house has been divided, and Stu Bykofsky, a Philly institution who grew up in the Bronx, has practically become a house divided against itself. Do you have New York friends, or a Yankees fan at home?
THE LAST thing Sheila Armstrong remembers about the attack was the sight of her lover hoisting a vacuum over her.
