Sunday, April 27, 2008, 6:51 PM
Compiled by Paul Vigna ... A thumbnail look at the 10 players the Eagles selected over the weekend in the NFL draft: TREVOR LAWS Round 2, No. 47 overall DT, 6-1, 304, Notre Dame Played defensive tackle in the Irish’s 4-3 alignment and then switched to end when that unit changed to a 3-4 ... Hold On To That Lito Jersey

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 6:50 PM
One thing I think I think: 1. I hate freaking Peter King. If you scroll down a couple dozen posts, it was SI's King who got the weekend off to a sputtering start by predicting the Eagles would not be able to trade Lito Sheppard. This unwlecome bit of prescience arrived even as Eagles sources were... Read more

Topped by a King

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 5:48 PM
The Birds presumably closed up shop for the weekend with the drafting of offensive tackle King Dunlap, from Auburn. And he is a pretty big King, too. He is listed at 6-9 and 310 pounds. But he struggled mightily during his senior season. He was arrested for failing to pay a speeding ticket, he struggled... Read more

This Is a Bit Unusual

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 4:30 PM
Andy Reid told reporters he "did his homework" on the "law enforcement incident" that jeopardized the NFL career of Birds' fourth-round corner Jack Ikegwuonu, even before Ikegwuonu blew out his ACL and his MCL getting ready for the NFL Draft Combine. As most Birds fans worth their... Read more

Sixth round flurry

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 4:00 PM
After sitting out Round 5, the Eagles are back to work with the sixth round. They have four picks, including two compensatory picks. (League rules prevent those from being traded.) UPDATE: The Eagles traded No. 191 to Cleveland so they have the two remaining compensatory selections in this round... Read more

Early grades for rest of NFC East

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 2:43 PM
My early grades for the other three NFC East teams: Cowboys (B-plus) --After failing to trade up and get Darren McFadden, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones settled for the other Arkansas RB, Felix Jones, who will be a terrific compliment to bruising Marion Barber. They also added one of the draft's top corners... Read more

A record for most safeties named Quintin?

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 1:07 PM
The past two seasons, the one thing most experts agreed the Eagles probably would go for pretty high in the draft was a safety. Last year, Mike Lewis had left in free agency and Brian Dawkins was turning 34. A year later, C.J. Gaddis, the safety the Birds took in the fifth round, is long gone, and... Read more

Penn State's King to Rams

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 12:50 PM
This is probably not what Justin King was hoping for when he decided to forgo his senior season at Penn State. The cornerback was chosen in the third round by St. Louis with pick No. 101. NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock told the Daily News last week that King should have remained in school because... Read more

Round 4: O-line and safety

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 12:39 PM
While the Eagles are holding the news conference at the NovaCare Complex for the two players they selected yesterday, they also added an offensive lineman and a safety. Two positions you had to expect them to try to fill. The Birds selected Mike McGlynn, a 6-5, 318-pound guard/tackle from Pitt, in... Read more

Slaton to Texans

Sunday, April 27, 2008, 11:21 AM
West Virginia running back Steve Slaton, a product of Conwell-Egan High, was just chosen by the Houston Texans in the third round, with the 89th overall pick. Slaton left West Virginia a year early after a coaching change and seeing his carries diminish at the end of the season in favor of Noel Devine... Read more
