Vince Young allowed today that "it's been tough" adjusting to a backup role the past few months, but he said he has worked hard "behind the scenes" to get comfortable in the Eagles' offense.

Young and Mike Kafka said they split reps with the first team at today's practice, the team portion of which was not open to the media. The sense in the locker room seemed to be that Young is most likely to start against the Giants if two broken ribs keep Michael Vick out of the game.

Vick did not practice today, though he was on the field with the other two quarterbacks during individual drills, when reporters are allowed to observe.

Young said he is "getting better and better each day" through studying, though when Vick is healthy, Young's practice reps are extremely limited. 'Overall, (quarterbacks coach) Doug Pederson and Mike (Vick) and Mike Kafka do a great job of making sure I know the plays and saying them and things like that."

Young was asked if it is tough hearing people doubt his ability to lead the team, based on the three snaps he has taken this season, one of which was an interception. Young said he had no comment on that, his observation about how tough it has been concerned not playing, after having been the third overall pick in the 2006 draft, and making two Pro Bowls with the Tennessee Titans.

Asked if he expects to start this week, Young said reporters would have to "take that up with Andy."

The 3-6 team seems to be holding out hope that Vick can play.
