Never mind Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb, the big story from Lincoln Financial Field tonight is that defensive lineman Vinny Curry, a standout pass rusher in preseason, is active for the first time this season.

Curry is a 2012 second-round pick thought to be a better fit for the 4-3 defense the Eagles used to run than the 3-4 they want to run now. He told reporters the past few days he had no idea if he would play tonight, perhaps providing fresh legs to a defense that is playing for the third time in 11 days, and pass rush push to a group that managed just one sack in last Sunday's loss to the Chargers.

Curry's plight has become a puzzle for fans who liked his aggressive preseason play.

Inactive tonight are QB Matt Barkley, CB Roc Carmichael, CB Jordan Poyer, OT Matt Tobin, OT Dennis Kelly, TE Emil Igwenagu, and DL Damion Square.

This means CB Shaun Prater is active for the first time.
