Where the Eagles rank
Daily News staff
Our first Daily News rankings won't come out until closer to training camp, but ESPN.com has released its NFL rankings for the offseason and the draft.
The Eagles check in at No. 13 overall, seven spots behind Dallas among NFC East teams. The Birds are also seventh in the NFC behind New Orleans, Minnesota, Dallas, Green Bay, Atlanta and Arizona.
Writes John Clayton, "The Eagles picked a tough time for Kevin Kolb to take over as quarterback. Their schedule features 11 top-level QBs, including two games against Donovan McNabb."
Clayton had the Eagles lowest of the four voters, at No. 18. Jeff Chadiha had the Eagles at No. 11.
The Eagles ended the regular season at No. 7 overall last year. The drop of six spots equaled the Steelers for the largest fall.
Along with Dallas at No. 5, the Giants are ranked 17th and Washington is ranked 23rd, with the notation that adding Donovan McNabb "legitimizes" the Redskins and could make them playoff contenders.
The defending champion Saints are No. 1 overall, followed by Indianapolis, Minnesota, San Diego and Dallas. The Vikings' spot would presumably change if Brett Favre does not play.
Kolb won't get more than 8 wins. WWW.WEEMSWEAR.COM
Andy's gonna need to find a REAL #2 QB before long, because Kolb won't have a snowball's chance in Hades of finishing the season. I can only hope that we get to see something of value BEFORE he goes on the DL. He'll be running for his life most of the time, cuz of the O-Line, and he WILL get his helmet spinning repeatedly, as he has NO elusiveness or speed at all. Hope he can survive the season, because I think we will have a VERY good chance to be a tough, agressive, ball-hawking defensive unit in 2011, when all the rookies in 2010 get that first year under their belts. They're a legit 11-5 team with or without McNabb. coachie- WOW
Woody I could not agree with you more.Hitting wr in stride is a thing of beauty something we have not had around here in a long time.Clayton looks like Beaker from the muppets his opinion means NOTHING to me. mrgjf45
birdman, they did'nt let him go because of the air guitar. it's because he punked out in oakland and dallas. made the pro bowl? sure, after everyone who was picked would'nt play. JACK V- McNabb has won as many Super Bowls as Birdman, the Rhodes Scholar who recently wrote that McNabb's playoff record is better than Kurt Warner's. Give him his Thorazine and a doggy treat. Bob1
Picking ramkings now do mean little when the full on training camps haven't started. An in-depth analysis was done and McNabb was correct in his assessment of the young receivers, but incorrect in vocalizing it. Again, Kolb is loved..let's wait until the 350 lb. behemoths come calling week after week before buying Kolb a bundle of Christmas gifts. AJW2009
I think Clayton is a good analyst and think his #13 ranking is pretty accurate. Does anyone see this Eagles team as better than 8-8 or 9-7 which is exactly what ranking 13th in a league of 32-teams would translate to...? The only part I disagree with him on is placing Atlanta ahead of the Eagles. The Falcons were two games worse than the Eagles last season and dominated by the Eagles at home in the regular season. Otherwise I'm fine with both the Eagles ranking and the NFC teams that are placed ahead of them erik5150vh
5-11...book it gotknowledge2002
The power rankings are a complete waste. I wonder where the Saints were ranked last year at this time. Reinholds
