Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is not expected to practice today, head coach Leslie Frazier said this morning.

“He’s doing better. It’s going to be a day-to-day deal with him and may even go right down until gametime,” Frazier said. “He’s making progress. That thigh (contusion) has been real sore.”

Frazier said Peterson would receive treatment today and hoped to have him back out at practice tomorrow. Peterson, who also has had knee and ankle trouble was a surprising deactivation shortly before kickoff of the Vikings loss to the Bears on Monday Night.

Much like the rest of the 5-9 Vikings, Peterson has had a subpar season. He’s eighth in the NFL with 1,149 rushing yards, but he’s had just one 100-yard game in the Vikes’ last eight.

Frazier said weather will not be a factor in the decision to play Peterson Sunday night against the Eagles. Temperatures at Lincoln Financial Field are expected to be in the 20s with possible snow.

“It’ll just be a matter of whether he can go or not,” the coach said. “If he could have (played) Monday night, the conditions wouldn’t have mattered. If he can go, he’ll go.”

Also, the Vikings signed quarterback Rhett Bomar off the Giants practice squad on Tuesday. Frazier expects rookie Joe Webb to make his first career start, Patrick Ramsey to serve as the backup and Bomar to be the No. 3. This would mean Brett Favre would be deactivated.
