Vick leads Pro Bowl voting; Cowboys injuries

POSTED: Wednesday, December 8, 2010, 2:52 PM

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has surpassed Peyton Manning in the overall lead for Pro Bowl voting.

Vick has 729,838 online votes to Manning's 691,146. Manning led in the previous report issued by the league.

Vick said the voting is "a credit to everything I've tried to accomplish, on and off the field," since returning to the NFL last season after going to prison."Just working as hard as I can to change things around, be a part of the solution, not the problem. I've changed my life. It goes to show anybody can do it.

"It was an unfortunate situation. Things happened, I wish I could go back and change it all. I wish I could take it all back but I can't. The only thing I can do is just move forward."

Online voting continues through Dec. 20 with the Pro Bowl team selected by a combination of voting by the fans, the players and the coach.

Behind Vick and Manning are New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (623,074), Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (591,598) and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (547,340).

David Akers leads among kickers with 131,631 votes.

The Cowboys were without three defensive starters and two key reserves at practice today, ESPNDallas.com reported.

Inside linebackers Bradie James (knee) and Keith Brooking (foot) and strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh (quadriceps) did not practice. Reserve inside linebacker Sean Lee (shoulder) and nickel back Orlando Scandrick (concussion) also were out.

Running back Marion Barber, who did not play against Indianapolis because of a strained left calf, did not practice and is not expected to play.

You should be giving us a status on where McNabb stands so we know if we'll get a better draft pick!

5 straight Super Bowls for the Eagles? What kind of weed are you smoking? I do agree that Brady should be ahead of Manning in the voting.

Vick should be grateful to President Obama for this redemption. Before Obama destroyed Bush in the election, under Bush African-Americans were systematically hauled off the jails run by Haliburton and other Republican campaign contributors. Now that Bush is gone, under Obama African-Americans are once again able to realize the American dream, which was lost under Bush because all he cared about was filling up the pockets of Big Oil, Wall Street, and Big Business.

@ eldiablodelsol2009, We cant blame Bush for our shortcomings. Yes we have to work harder than other races but we do more to hold ourselves back NOW than any race ever could. Don't get me wrong, I know our country's history. But we do the best job of holding ourselves back. With that said, Vick's redemption is based on Vick's performance on and odd the field. His road has been harder than he would imagine since God delegated so many judges on earth(Speaking sarcastically)

I/m sure Brady will g et a few more votes after his performance Monday night. By the way, where are his weapons? Gronkowski, Woodhead, Green=Ellis. Who are these guys.

eldiablodelsol2009 -- Obama didn't run against Bush in the election. Check your facts pinhead. The rest of your rant is equally mindless dribble and inappropriate for an Eagles blog.

I agree CaptMorgan, he is an idiot, though it is "drivel," not "dribble." What idiots bring politics to a sports page?

Manning is 2nd in voting because it's FAN voting. Most dummies only vote out of name recognition, not performance. Luckily, fan voting only counts for 1/3 of the voting (players and coaches have the other 2/3).

McFraud has more INTS than TDS he been voted to only one pro bowl with 5 alternates..Donnie McFraud and Brett Fraud are finished after this season.....Tom Brady is the best QB in football he has no weapons but still has a 10-2 record..if you want to know who the best players are wait for the ALL-PRO TEAM to be announced at the end of the season....the public voting does not always make the best choice as we've seen in politics.....wolf-out.
