The Eagles are off today, but quarterback Michael Vick appeared on SportsRadio 94 WIP, with hosts Ike Reese and Michael Barkann. Reese asked Vick about his opening-night matchup against Washington Redskins second-year quarterback Robert Griffin III, a QB who has been compared to Vick in style and attitude.

“Anytime you have an opportunity to go against an opponent who has a great quarterback on the other end, it always makes for a great game, it always makes for a great matchup,” Vick said. “It’s something that you always look forward to. It’s like Steve Young and Brett Favre back in the day, or Brett Favre and Troy Aikman … I watched it, and I was even being competitive for those guys, sitting on the couch. I know what it’s like. I understand it, I embrace it, man; this is what it’s all about.”

Vick seemed excited about finally taking the wraps off Chip Kelly’s new Eagles offense.

“We feel like we have a lot to build on from the preseason. There’s a lot of things we did well,” Vick said. “We feel like we can push the tempo a little bit more. As time went on, we just got comfortable with what we were doing. We made a lot of minor mistakes that can be corrected.”

How will Robert Griffin III fare against the Eagles?
He’ll be rusty.
Against that secondary, he’ll be just fine.

Barkann wondered if it would be possible to keep all the team’s weapons happy.

“There’s a lot of balls to go around to everybody,” Vick said. “Our offense allows everybody to get involved with some of the most intriguing plays ... It’s a very unselfish group.

The Eagles made two practice squad moves today, adding safety Keelan Johnson and bringing back offensive lineman Isaac Remington, one of Chip Kelly’s Oregon players who was moved to the OL from the defensive line late in training camp, after failing to impress on defense. Practice resumes tomorrow for the Monday night opener.

The Eagles released a depth chart Tuesday that lists Nate Allen as the starting safety opposite Patrick Chung, as expected. DeSean Jackson is listed as the top punt returner and Damaris Johnson as the top kickoff returner.

Casey Matthews is listed as the top backup for DeMeco Ryans.
