Last June, Quanis Phillips was shot in the leg after Michael Vick’s 30th birthday party in Virginia Beach, Va.
Now, he is in jail in Richmond, being held on alleged probation violations, including contact with Vick at the party that night, according to the Associated Press.
Phillips was one of Vick’s co-defendants in the dogfighting case, and he and Vick were barred from having contact with one another. A probation officer says in court papers that Phillips lied when he denied speaking with the Vick that night.
No charges were ever filed in the shooting incident.
The office also says Phillips failed to report run-ins with police, skipped a required mental health appointment and tested positive for marijuana use.
Phillips showed up at a hearing today without a lawyer. U.S District Judge Henry Hudson appointed an attorney and rescheduled the hearing for March 28.
Hudson had sentenced Phillips to 21 months in prison and three years probation in 2007 for his role in the dogfighting ring. Vick was sentenced to 23 months.
