Vick backs off criticism of Top 100 ranking
Daily News staff
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was a bit more diplomatic Tuesday in his reaction to being ranked No. 70 in the NFL Network's Top 100 players of 2011.
During a Monday interview with Mike Missanelli on the 97.5 the Fanatic, Vick said, That’s a joke … I won’t say where I need to be, I’ll let my peers and everybody else decide on that.
“It was voted on by the peers, but I just disagree. … Thank you, because they’ve motivated me to become a better player this year, so I’ll have that in the back of my mind as I go out and play this year as well.”
Asked after practice Tuesday, Vick said, "It’s all good. I’m going to prove myself and get myself back in the top 20 next year.”
“Obviously I pay attention to it but I’m a competitor. I feel like I’m one of the best at what I do. It’s somebody else’s opinion, and I have to prove them wrong and make them say otherwise.”
Vick seemed to enjoy the setting as the full team returned for three days of OTAs before the team breaks until training camp.
“It’s very important to take the next three days as serious as possible and continue to get better each and every day," Vick said. "Nothing really has changed since OTAs, but the intensity has picked up and the defense has played well over the past few days. The offense has done a great job. We’re just learning.”

Vick is like T.O. and Iverson...an old fraud that thinks he is better than what he really is. phil500- Vick gave an open, honest, motivated interview with Mikey Miss this week. He was surprised by the ranking and reacted to it by saying "that's a joke." But everything after that was positive and level-headed. Honestly I think most people who are reacting to this interview haven't even listened to it.

I believe in Vick. He's exactly the right QB for the Eagles.
Just build the right game plan around him: more rollouts, more screens, more double TE sets.
They are loaded at RB. Bryce Brown is going to be very productive. Hope they use him and Chris Polk enough. I'd like to see them pick up another TE for depth. EmanuelP
let's see what he what vickster does this year, before yelling foul that #70 is an injustice. he has looked look an mvp at times, he's been injured and useless at times, and at times, he has looked look dog-shite doc35
Bryce Brown may not make the team, but I hope him or Polk do get the ball...but they probably wont. And no Vick is absolutely not the right QB for this system, it is so horribly wrong it is insane. Having a poor accuracy QB in one of the most pass heavy offenses in the league is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever seen in my entire life, and is the reason why Vick has not one playoff game in this system yet. ITS A HORRIBLE IDEA. TERIBLE. MORE GARBAGE COMING UP. CharlieGarner25
The issue is that Vick has been overrated for years and apparently believed it all. JBinPA
With a guy like Vick you just need every other part of the team to be average and not make mistakes, and the defense could not do that last year. If the defense can be at least average, get turnovers, and stop the run then things might progress. Vick has the talent to carry a team if the team is in the game ConverseB24
Some of you guys seem to want a Broad as your Quarterback, that'll never work in Philly.
Vick is supposed to think he's a top tier Quarterback and not the 70th rated player in the League.
That is a self defeating attitude if Vick doesn't believe he's one of the best Quarterbacks available. Say what you will but it was the defensive mistakes last year that doomed the Eagles. They gave up leads in the forth quarter of several games.
Block for Vick, and the Eagles are going places this year. I see 13-3 no less a record than 12-4, and a first round bye in the playoffs. Easy division title in 2012
Dexter
Dexter, unfortunately you have no idea what you are talking about on this as there is ZERO CHANCE THEY WIN 13 GAMES NEXT YEAR. NONE. They wont even win 12 games. NO CHANCE. There is like a 5% chance they go 11-5 and 95% chance they get less then that. Clueless kool-aid drinkers have been keeping Andy Reid employed for years. He has almost an equal playoff record to Rich Kotite and is actually WORSE in many other areas. ITS PATHETIC. THEY ARE GOING NO WHERE WITH ANDY AND MARTY NEXT YEAR TOO. Come back in 6 months and tell me how wrong you were, kool-aid drinkers arent even in touch with reality enough to like apologize later on for saying stupid things. 13 years of no superbowls continuing on... Vick (aka Ron Mexico) is just not appreciative. He's lucky to be playing at all, let alone scrambling at 32. In 2011 Vick threw 14 interceptions, lost 7 fumbles and turned the ball over 21 times. Philly would be better off without Vick and Reid. matman1
If I were Vick I wouldn't back off nothing I said.
@Dexter you are 100% correct. charmaine- Charmine-You sure spend a lot of time defending your hero. Bet your other hero OJ is getting jealous.
Kioto - @Kioto, I just spent sometime reading all the articles about Sandusky, took time to read the comments as well, guess what there weren't any. But yet you fools are here bashing someone about some dam dogs. Bet your hero Jerry Sandusky is a bit jealous you're giving all your attention to Vick and some deadazz dogs.

@Dexter you are 100% correct, but you could never convince these nuts, they are fans in the first place so don't worry about it. charmaine
The kool-aiders confuse excitement created by the helter skelter Vick with that which is necessary to quarterback a team to the championship. The 52-0 regular season wins against poor teams won't mean a thing in the playoffs. This team was built for the warm weather regular season. Kioto
