Vick Still 'Foggy, Tired All the Time'

POSTED: Friday, November 16, 2012, 1:45 PM

Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder told reporters Friday that quarterback Michael Vick is still in the first phase of the concussion recovery process. The Eagles confirmed Vick will not play Sunday at Washington, but Burkholder said it is impossible to project what his status might be beyond that.

"He's had symptoms all week, since the (Dallas) game," Burkholder said. "He's had a headache, which has gotten better during the week. He's foggy -- he's not very alert right now in terms of, he just doesn't have that energy. He's tired all the time. He's sleeping a lot, he's not getting rid of the fatigue. I would consider him heavy-eyed.

"When you talk to him, he's just not the Michael Vick that you know when he's healthy."

Burkholder said the next step toward recovery would be exercise, but Vick isn't ready for that. He is spending much of his time in a quiet, dark place, Burkholder said. He said neck massage has helped alleviate Vick's headaches.

Though the lack of substantial improvement underscores what Eagles coach Andy Reid said earlier in the week -- that Vick has a "pretty significant" concussion -- Burkholder said Vick might wake up Monday feeling great; he said he couldn't grade the concussion until Vick has recovered.

The only surprise in Andy Reid's injury listing was that RG Danny Watkins, who practiced fully all week, nonetheless is listed as "questionable." Watkins has missed the last three games with an ankle problem. Reid talked about the danger of "tweaks" in the ankle. The Eagles moved Dennis Kelly outside to right tackle in practice this week; he might have to move back inside for the game if Watkins can't go or leaves early. Or, newcomer Jake Scott could have to play, right out of the box.

The Eagles used practice squad wide receiver Marvin McNutt to simulate Robert Griffin III this week in practice. McNutt, who trained with Griffin before the draft and considers him a friend, said he feels he understands how RG3 moves.

I am seriously worried about his health. He's had multiple concussions over the course of his career and one wonders what might happen if he gets one too many.

Keep the dog killer caged in his dark room. Get rid of the POS once and for all. GO FOLES! Get rid of Reid also.

Jake Scott deserves a shot -- Watkins hasn't done squat. Oh yeah, and Andy is a Reidtard.

Those of you wishing bad for Vick need to chill out. Let him be. Here's hoping for a complete recovery, but am also hoping for Foles to do well.

I hope he's done for good...for his own health. No one agrees with what he did, but putting him behind that O-line was worse than any time he served.

"Foggy and tired" ... and done.

Hoping for a healthy and full recovery for Mr. Vick, but beyond that ... I suspect that he's done.

Is the tired and foggyness coming from his concussion or the weed he's smokes while drinking his favorite beverage, Greygoose

Burkholder, getting advice from the Phillies training staff, is 100% wrong. The "first phase of the concussion recovery process" is this: "where am I? What just happened?" The patient must be conscious and semi-lucid before any evaluation can begin. Amazing how inept these guys are at describing patient treatment.

Vick's been tired and asleep at the Eagles helm since he's been here, so what's the dif? Maybe Foles will work out OK; maybe he won't.
Vick though needs to go--and wherever he goes, he needs to take Reid with him. They both suck.
