Vick Resting, Isn't 'In La-La Land'

Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that quarterback Michael Vick is resting at home and that his concussion headaches have subsided. Reid refused to declare Vick out for Sunday's visit with the Redskins, although Vick playing seems pretty much impossible, given the significance of the blow Vick received in last Sunday's loss to the Redskins.
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin said he spoke with Vick Tuesday. Maclin said they didn't discuss football, just personal matters. He said Vick was able to carry on a normal conversation, wasn't "in la-la land."
Rookie Nick Foles will take the starter's reps today and probably all week. Reid said Foles will "handle it like he's going."
Reid said he does not anticipate Vick will miss the rest of the season, but until Vick undergoes testing, it's impossible to say.
Reid said his message to the team was to "just go play," have fun, don't succumb to pressure.
Maclin, who suffered a low-back strain against the Cowboys, said he will play this week. Right guard Danny Watkins is back; Reid said Dennis Kelly will alternate with tackles Demetress Bell and King Dunlap this week in practice.
Slot receiver Jason Avant (hamstring) is out for the Redskins game, as is RB Chris Polk (toe).
New guard Jake Scott said he wasn't sure how long it might take him to get up to game speed, but he said he intends to be ready to play this weekend if he's needed.

Reid reiterated what everyone knew during the draft process - that the Eagles certainly kicked the tires on Robert Griffin III, the quarterback the Redskins ultimately traded up to draft second overall, who looks like a budding superstar. But -- though Reid didn't say this Wednesday -- the Eagles didn't have the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft to trade, as the Redskins did, along with two other firsts and a second, to make the deal with the rebuilding Rams.
In a conference call with Philadelphia reporters, Griffin recalled that time.
“I met with the Eagles and coach Reid told me they were very interested in me. You never know what can happen, but I really enjoyed my meeting with them. Obviously, things didn’t work out," said Griffin, who of course said he is very happy in Washington.
Griffin also got to know Nick Foles at the combine.
“I was able to be in the same group, be around him at the combine. He’s a really cool guy. All the rookie quarterbacks I’ve had a chance to meet have all been good, down-to-earth people who seem like they’re pretty good leaders," Griffin said. "I don’t know what it is about this class, but every now and then you get a group of guys in the same claas – quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, whatever it is – and things just seem to click with those guys. We’re definitely, as a group, just clicking right now.”
Reid would have ruined RG3. He would have tried to make him a pocket passer, like he did MV and McNab, we all seen how thats working. AR seems to like taking players who are good at a position/style of play and putting them in different position or asking them to play differntly than what their used to. FROM THE BEACH- U SEEN RG3 IN THE POCKET... DUDE HAS A NICE ARM. RG3 SO FAR SEEMS TO BE REAL DUEL THREAT VICK HAS NEVER REALLY BEEN. MCNABB HAD A GOOD RUN WAS A PRETTY GOOD QB I DONT SEE HOW REID KILLED HIM TOO OTHER THAN USING HIM UP AND SPITTING HIM OUT. YOU WANT VICK RUNNING DIVING HEAD FIRST LOL MAKES SENSE HOW HE DOESNT GET CONCUSSION RUNNING DIVING HEAD FIRST BUT GETS THEM BY STANDING IN THE POCKET LOL...

Andy Reid has said that he will start Foles and not simplify the playbook for his rookie QB. Why would Andy adjust his game plan to help his rookie out? Same old nitwit Reid. A good coach adjusts his plan to suit the players he has not the other way around. REID, YOU ARE A DOPE!!!!! RH- Is Reid trying to kill him? Move on Andy.
- Maybe he is trying to confuse an already confused Washington defense.
Walkdogbl32 cant get enough of the kool aid randomm82
This is perfect. Reid sticking with Vick and going down with the ship. I couldn't have scripted a better way for Reid to go. mario1239
whoever posted this in another article, thanks, great read philly fans.
snippets:
• No. 12 in total defense but No. 22 in scoring defense
• No. 8 in total offense but No. 29 in scoring offense
• Andy Reid's inefficient, poorly coached Eagles have ripped off 3,360 yards of offense this year but have turned all that production into just 154 points.
• John Harbaugh's efficient, well-coached Ravens have scored 100 more points (254) with 173 fewer yards of offense (3,187).

i'm ruling out Reid as a coach! sgamble077
Put Vick out there and while your at it make him play without a helmet ....Listen as much as I despise CONVICK as a person even I can see that this guy cant be put on the field....he does have a family and kids...wait till he heals and then put him backl out to get beat up some more but let the concussion heal flyers1000- The Redskins formed their offense around their QB. Eagles formed our QB around the offense. See the results. I pray we make the playoffs at least...wildcard, something.
Just a desperate stab by Reid to make the Redskins think Vick might be playing so they have to prepare for him instead of Foles. Doubt the 'Skins are buying it. skintime
Old stubborn Andy at it again. Has a player that had brain surgery playing DLINE, and anticipating a player fresh off an ACL (Peters)to get back before seasons end to save his job. Why don't he try seeing if Marlin Jackson is finally healthy. watsonmr
ALL this talk about FOLES...he must have been a 1st round pick, wait second pick, um second round? no what round was it? oh yeah ok....so this sunday we will see, I truly hope the eagles win i want them in the playoffs....but I cant wait to see if this has been all Vicks fault!!!!! Walkdogbl32- stop lying dude you know you want foles to do bad since you cant admit that vicks play over the past two years has been horrible you know you dont want a rookie 3rd rounder to make your boy look bad. your not an eagles fan your a vick fan get over it and move on when the team moves on from him...
