Vick Doesn't Need Tebow Waiting in Wings

Yesterday, when news broke that the Broncos were getting Peyton Manning, I texted Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. "When's Tebow coming?" I asked. Ha-ha. Hee-hee. Yuk, yuk.
Didn't get a response. Didn't expect one. Howie is, after all, a Florida alum. But really -- Tim Tebow, a 46.5-percent passer last season in his "breakthrough" year, running Andy Reid's West Coast offense? Lotsa touch passing and reading? How would that work? How did it work with Vince Young last season?
Yet, some folks on the internets today are citing the Young debacle as a precedent why the Eagles might pursue Tebow. This often happens in such cases, and the logic always eludes me. Let's say I buy a used car, and it turns out to be a bad investment, breaking down a lot and costing me a lot of money. Then, later, after I get rid of it, somebody is selling a similar car. Am I a likely potential buyer? Or the least likely buyer?
But all of that aside, this is Michael Vick's team and locker room. If the Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl next season, it is going to be behind Vick. If you paid any attention to Tebowmania last season, you know that Tebow has a huge gravitational pull. I already have a tweet from somebody today contrasting the "dog killer" with the "clean-cut, God-fearing" Tebow. We really, really, really, really don't need this, after every loss. Really.
I am not a Tebow "hater." I was thrilled to watch him beat the Steelers in the playoffs. Generally, I like it when somebody runs roughshod over conventional wisdom. But my view, Tebow needs to go to a place with a run-oriented offense, where he will start. Yes, the Eagles need a good plan if Vick should miss three games again with injury, but bringing the circus to town to camp out next to Vick's locker isn't that plan.
It's not Tebow versus Vick. It's Tebow versus Kafka, and he wins that one 100% of the time.
For God's sake, get SOMEOBDY in here who can backup Vick in the 3 or 4 games he is going to miss this year. banned- trust me, you don't want Tebow as the backup. I have seen this first hand. To quote Crash Davis, "you couldn't water if you fell out of a boat."

But what is best for the Eagles? You shouldn't really base your decisions on the preferences and needs of an aging QB. McNabb was 31 when they brought his heir apparent on board and he only had a few years of serviceability left. Vick will be 32 this season. What has he shown to indicate that he can beat father time? Is he getting faster and stronger? jtj10
The Eagles don't need Tebow. Talk about a madhouse!! Can you hear the fans screaming for Tebow the minute Vick misfires or throws a pick.
What the Eagles need to do is use one of the #2 picks or at the very least their #3 to draft and develope a QB in the draft. Hey, Wilson from Wisconsin is the same size as Vick but he makes all the throws and has QB smarts. egulman
macd41144, did you ever consider that Manning doesn't want to have an heir apparent waiting in the wings? It seems to me like that might have been part of his decision process and the Broncos indicated they'd trade Tebow. It's going to be tough to win with that motley bunch in Denver as it is, without the fans calling for Tebow when they lose games. jtj10- They are both running QBs and running QBs dont win, have never won in this league.
What a silly comment. This guy must have never heard the names John Elway, Steve Young, Fran Tarkenton, Roger Staubach, Bobby Douglas and yes even Dan Marino. I think there are a few super bowl wins in that group.
wiff, the Eagles were eliminated in game #15...just stating the facts, try it sometime. The rest of what you typed is too ludicrous to comment on...idiot. tpizza
@banned...not to worry, the accounting firm of Banner, Roseman and Reid has been out scouring the cockfights, rodeos and circuses looking for a suitable backup to Vick. The Tonner has utmost confidence in "Mailroom" and the boys. hunglikeaton- dude. I love the accounting firm description. So perfect.
Not to worry, Mrs. Roseman's little boy Howie is on the lookout for talent for our NFL franchise. coloradoeagle
@ppizza did he marry his live in 'fiancee' yet..haha...wolf. wolf 4
As much as I like Tebow, he's worse at QB than The Mike Vick Experience. Not to say that as a slight to Mike Vick (we have more than enough dumb arse haters on here to do that) but we need a suitable backup who doesn't go all "LET'S WIN NOW BOYS" type of mentality and is pretty accurate at QB. Like I said, I like Tim Tebow but yes, this is The Mikc Vick Experience not the Tim Tebow Talent in Philadelphia! The ONLY way the Eagles win a Super Bowl is by #7 (or at least with #7 healing on the sidelines)! GO MIKE VICK GO! GO EAGLES!!! Panthro2011- How about the "dumb arse" conVicktim apologists, enablers and sycophants?

That poll question says it all...the fairweather fans are grasping at straws for anything. Wiff wants Vick out of town at any cost; every "fan" with a fantasy team and a 12-year-old's understanding of the world around them suddenly again think Tebow will bring a Super Bowl here. They say it for every single free agent and every single college kid that any of these "media" people dare to bring up. No to Tebow! I want free agents who can play football, not pander to the lowest common denominator for their own personal ego and bank account padding. MidStaterUXB
Tebow would give us a way better chance to win a super bowl than Vick df
If Reid keeps insisting on bringing out that wildcat formation than yes Tebow would be the perfect option for that situation only. Won;t fumble and can get those 3 yards inside the five. joepir
