Virginia Beach police say they know who did the shooting following a Michael Vick birthday celebration, but the shooter will not be charged “at this time” because the victim has not cooperated with investigators, according to the Associated Press.

In a statement released yesterday, police said witnesses have also been reluctant to help in the investigation of the shooting outside a Virginia Beach nightclub. The statement says because the shooter will not be charged, his identity will not be released.

The victim has not be identified by the police, but Vick’s attorney Larry Woodward says it was Quanis Phillips — a co-defendant in Vick’s dogfighting case.

Vick, the Eagles’ backup quarterback, said he left the nightclub before the shooting.

He did nothing wrong. This is a non-story. Leave him alone. The media has been on a witch hunt to destroy Vick.

I love it when people force then views on others. I don't see anyone going after Big Ben for contributing alcohol to a minor and then raping her.

The Eagles should keep him. They deserve all his nonsense.

He's a human cancer and needs to be cut out. I wonder what pictures he has of Jeff Lurie that make him keep this loser around.

One last thing, I love it when you people and you know what race you are like to see vic pay for this crime not knowing the facts, well since you are on that note lets put 3/4 of your grand parents, great grand parents and parents in jail for malicious medieval crimes they did to slaves and blacks all the way to the late 60's. What's that you say? What psychotic disorders acts, read your history its all there, enough facts that would put any criminal away today...so please go over it like you have the past

RealTruth.....even the lowest ROACH is better then that piece of filth. The very fact that YOU defend this human piece of trash shows what little intelligence you have. Vick is a loser, a team cancer, and mediocre football player (at best) who will never get it. Nuff said. Now I'm done with you. Have a nice day.

The NFL will do its own investigation. This isn't over yet.

I'm not getting how Vick has any supporters among Eagle fans. 1. he isn't good at his job. 2. he tried all off season to leave town but much like last year there is absolutely ZERO interest among NFL teams. 3. he is an embarrassment, not just for his long history of lies and crimes, but for the do any shameless thing for a buck mode he is in right now. How many more of these open "parties"/public appearances will it take before he ends up in some serious trouble? Goodell should suspend him and Reid for embarrassing the league.

Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. He, his wife Barbara, and their two sons live in Haddon Township, New Jersey. E-mail Les at bowenl@phillynews.com and follow him on Twitter.

Paul DomowitchPaul Domowitch has been with the Daily News since 1982. He has spent most of his nearly 3 decades with the paper covering the Eagles and pro football. For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo started his career in Texas, working first for the Midland Reporter-Telegram (1976-78), and then for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually was boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose 2 sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football. Domo and his wife Shelley, a University of Oklahoma grad who still hasn’t gotten over that Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State 5 years ago, have 2 terrific daughters -- Allison, 28, who is an attorney in South Jersey, and Amy, 25, who works in administration for a professional baseball team.
