Defensive end Trent Cole will have an MRI on his injured ankle on Saturday morning when the Eagles return to Philadelphia, Andy Reid said after the 20-17 preseason victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cole was injured in the second quarter when he was stepped on. He was carted back to the locker room and X-rays taken at the stadium were negative.

Darryl Tapp got a lot of reps with Cole sidelined.

In the other major injury story line from tonight, Reid said DeSean Jackson has a neck strain and was held out for the remainder of the game as a precaution.

In what perhaps is an understatement, Reid said, "We have plenty of work to do with the ones. There were some good things, but we have a lot of work to do."

Preseason sucks. Starting players must worry to h--- that they will get hurt for nothing. Hope Cole heals quickly.

@Sono- What a well thought out reasoned comment! I am impressed, my man, especially with your decisive use of the cap lock.

Tapp was pretty much invisible. Bell showed nothing but a hard head. Right now it's a tie between them for the "Jerome McDougle Spot", the player who deosn't get cut because we can't admit we made a mistake.

This is preseason. Kolb had a bad game, as did the offensive line. Graham, Simms and Allen look pretty good. While there are concerns particularly about the offense, my biggest concern regarding this game and the preseason in general is the injuries. This team can not afford to lose key players like Cole and Jackson. Let's hope they recover quickly.

andy reid is one of the best coaches in the NFL and the Eagles will be fine when the season starts. McNabb is already injured and the deadskins suck.

so bw20 how much is Lurie paying you to be on these boards, Eh? Kolb is terrible. The offense is terrible. No offensive line at all and they can't even stop a simple blitz. No running game. No Red Zone. The Eagles did not get better. They've gotten worse. Much Worse.

It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo started his career in Texas, working first for the Midland Reporter-Telegram (1976-78), and then for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually was boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose 2 sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football. Domo and his wife Shelley, a University of Oklahoma grad who still hasn’t gotten over that Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State 5 years ago, have 2 terrific daughters -- Allison, 28, who is an attorney in South Jersey, and Amy, 25, who works in administration for a professional baseball team.
