Would Chad Johnson fit with the Eagles?
Yes
No

Donovan McNabb was back at practice today and available to talk about his counseling of Bengals receiver Chad Johnson/Ocho Cinco, who was extremely unhappy with his surroundings last offseason. Johnson/Cinco told reporters on a conference call Wednesday that McNabb had lent a sympathetic ear, and that he had "blown up" McNabb's phone all summer.

"Mr. Ocho Cinco, he's a great guy," McNabb said, perhaps wistfully. Johnson/Cinco was unsuccessful in his attempts to force a trade from Cincinnati, which hosts the Eagles this Sunday. "He brings a lot of attention to himself at times, but he's an entertainer. One thing about the guy, obviously, when he had his quarterback in there (now-injured Carson Palmer) he put up big numbers, so it's not like he's not able and capable of making big plays for them. Carson's a little banged up; they're going through some things on offense. Chad's a guy I've communicated with numerous amount of times. He's obviously changed from where he was in the offseason of how he felt, and where he's at now, and with whatever situation he ends up in. He just wants to win. That's all that you ask."

It was an interesting testimonial, given the bitter breakup three years ago of McNabb's relationship with another entertaining wideout, who knew how to make waves. The guess here is, if McNabb was ever in a place where he would rather work with less stellar talent in exchange for fewer headaches, he has left that place now.

It's good that Ocho Cinco "just wants to win". Maybe McNabb can learn something from HIM.

Did McNabb also show Johnson how to come up small at all the wrong times? Maybe he showed him that when tossing a ball back to a ref after a catch to throw it low and into the ground.

eagles 84..... that was the dumbest post on this site ever!! I cannot believe anyone would seriously think that way. Where you there when 5 played with a broken leg? Were you there when his recivers were small and johnson? He is the BEST eagles QB that we have ever had. Was it him who lost the game last week? no no it wasent.

Steveo8drum- I for one agree with you. Those who pine for Kolb or have exaggerated fond memories of Garcia - must forget Bobby Hoying, Pederson, Peete, etc. This team has a lot of football left to play. The ineptitude of some of the play calling aside, the Eagles best shot for the playoffs and beyond rests on #5s shoulders. He will lead this team into the playoffs this year -and I will still be on the bandwagon.

Saying McNabb is the greatest QB in Eagles history isnt saying a whole lot. AND, i am sure fans of The Dutchman would offer a differnt opinion too.

hey steve...did you watch that game last week? or any game this year for that matter? mcnabb, while he might be the best QB we've ever had also starts every game with his head in his A$%. and while we're on that subject, he seems to finish every game that way as well. i've never seen a professional QB, with his experience run a 2 min drill so poorly. Sure, Andy calls some of the worst plays ever and frankly he should be fired after this season....playoffs or not. McNabb on the other hand should try and figure out what is wrong with HIS offense and stop laughing like a jerk after loses and helping players on opposing teams.

85 is more falsh than substance. In fact, he's subpar. He'll be a perfect fit for the team. Welcom aboard in '09 Ocho Cinco!

Leave McNabb alone... McNabb's career has been largely wasted by a stubborn coach that refuses to change his ways. McNabb deserves to be traded to someplace where he can/will flourish. (Chicago comes to mind). here's a guy who puked his guts out for us... which, in my opinion, is every bit as good as running into the center field wall face first. God Bless McNabb!

It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent.
