The Eagles just traded with Carolina and aren't picking in the first round, apparently.

Wow. Lots of guys I thought the Birds liked on the board and they're out of the first round. Jeff Otah, a really good OT prospect, just went to Carolina with the Eagles' pick.
They're getting a lot, though -- a two (43 overall) and a four (109) this year, along with a one (yes, a freaking one) next year. I'd do that, too.

- Yeah, it was a good trade, but it doesn't help this year... that's two years in a row with no first round pick. When your running back is your leading receiver your team has a problem. They better look to get one of the receivers that's still on the board somehow...— rbm7528

The Eagles will trade their number one picks next year too. They did the same thing last year, taking Kolb with their first pick after trading down. They are too cheap to pay big time money to an instant impact player that wil help right away. Instead they'll look for the Stewart Bradley types that might prove to be a good bargain in the lower rounds. It's shameful.— RAS- there was no immediate playmaker for #5 at #19.— dpcoz
- You got to love stock piling picks, especially what will be a high number one from a below average Carolina team. This years draft is somewhat weak anyway. I'd take the 2 and 4 if I wasn't happy with my position in this years draft, now we get that and a #1 in 2009. We're not building for #5 we're building for the E-A-G-LE-S Future. - Eagles traded a 1st for a 1st. The extra they get is a 43rd this year and a 109th this year---is that worth waiting a year to make a 1st round pick? On this average looking 8-8 team, quite possibly...let's hope they draft well with all of these picks.— kort99

- I like the trade down with Carolinas qtrbk coming off of tommy john surgery and no credible backup, so this pick could definately be a top 5 pick next year. Also with the pick up of 2 additional picks this year in the 2nd and 4th rds they'll address the needs of a wideout and kick returner along with a offensive lineman or 2. Great job Eagles— artaxx1

- Well im just shocked that there was no type of package deal to go after Chad Johnson.. The bengals had the 9th pick andy and joe could have packaged a deal to trade the 19th pick the 2nd round and the 4th round to get chad and atleast left something for mcnabb and if it didnt work out with donovan have someone for kevin but oh well.. but even with that the wr from michigan state is a pick is gonna come back to haunt us in the future ? just watch— Tray_in_Texas

- For you eagle Kool-Aid drinkers, consider this: The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl and have not won a NFL championship for nearly a halfd century (since 1960)? Now, it is 2 years in a row that the Eagles have not had a first ropund pick because of their arrogance and cheapness. Next year, Heckert, Reid, Lurie, and Banner will find some other reason to trade next year's 2 picks for 4 second round picks. I've had it with the Eagles.— ww2buff
