Thanksgiving Day Blackout

Looks like the Eagles are borrowing a page from Penn State's "Whiteout," among others, by declaring next Thursday's game against Arizona a "Thanksgiving Day Blackout."

The team will wear its black jerseys for the only time this season and is encouraging fans to wear their black team gear.

The Eagles host the Cardinals at 8:15 at the Linc. The game will be shown locally on 6ABC and nationally on the NFL Network.

The Eagles Women’s Association Food Drive also takes place with coaches’ and players’ wives stationed throughout the stadium with volunteers from Transtar Moving Systems to collect canned food items and cash donations to benefit Philabundance. Fans who will not be attending the game can also donate online to Philabundance by visiting PhiladelphiaEagles.com. Philabundance is the largest hunger relief organization in the Philadelphia region.

Fans who donate a canned item or money at the game will receive a 15 percent off coupon for the team’s online store. The coupon will allow fans to receive the discount on their entire online order on Black Friday, Nov. 28.

This blog is usually devoted to football, but with the holidays upcoming and tough times facing many people throughout our community, we thought this was worth mentioning.
