Teams watching Eagles' wide receivers

POSTED: Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 2:19 PM

At least two teams – the Ravens and the Jets – are keeping a close eye on the Eagles’ wide receiver situation.

The Eagles have an excess of wealth there right now. There’s a good chance they’ll deal one of their wide receivers – perhaps Reggie Brown – before the final roster cutdown.

The Jets don’t have much experience at the position beyond Jerricho Cotchery. The next four wideouts on their depth chart have a total of 92 career receptions.

The Ravens, coached by former Eagles assistant John Harbaugh, also need help there. Aside from starters Derrick Mason, who had to be coaxed out of retirement, and Mark Clayton, they don’t have much. Right now, their No. 3 wideout is Demetrius Williams, who has just 55 catches in 3 NFL seasons. After him, bubkis.

In another wide receiver note, Chester product Shaheer McBride was cut by the Eagles yesterday after spending all of last season on the Eagles' practice squad.

McBride told the Daily News' Joseph Santoliquito today that he has not given up hope of latching on with another team, although there is no activity on that front at the moment. McBride said he just had to be patient because the situation was out of his hands.

"Any opportunity is better than nothing," he said.

Brown has trade value . Booker I'm not so sure. Lump them both in a deal for a proven TE

I honestly hope we dont drop Reggie Brown, he's a better than decent back-up receiver. No he's no superstar burner, but he's a great support type of guy.

if we can get a pair of used jock straps for reggie brown, i'd be happy. desean was this regime's 1st good pick at WR. the list of losers is long and not very distinguished.

can we just give reggie away- it doesn't have to be a trade- let another team waste a roster spot on him- booker 2-

Sign JASON CARMEL former captain of the SES Bowling Team...he's a 5 foot 6 canadian burner with the stamina of a horse...He's so talented that he will catch a McNabb pass at his feet, scamper 90 yards for a touchdown and still have time to ash his cigarette, finish his beer and insult the opponents mother...Kid's a dynamo...

I like the idea of Harbaugh bringing back FredEx..."I just wanna thank God for blessing me with these hands..." In all reality, Freddie Delivered on 4 and 26 in the playoffs, so don't hate on the Peoples' Champ! Get rid of Reggie Brown!
