Tapp Doubtful; Maclin Encouraged RE Hammy

Looks like the Eagles will be without defensive end Darryl Tapp Sunday against the Jets. Tapp did not practice all week and was listed as "doubtful" today.

Wideout Jeremy Maclin did practice, and said he expects to be much less limited this week than he was in Miami with his persistent hamstring pull.

"It's a complete difference," Maclin said. "I thought I felt pretty good last week, but now you can actually see it on film and stuff like that. I practiced full-go today, so I'm ready to go."

Eagles coach Andy Reid and several players said their focus will be on beating the Jets at 4:15 Sunday, not on the Cowboys-Bucs and Redskins-Giants games that will be finished by then, meaning the Eagles can be eliminated from the NFC East race by the time they take the field. The Eagles cannot be eliminated from all possible wild card playoff scenarios by kickoff time against the Jets, but those are really arcane, ridiculous scenarios.

"Everything is about the Jets right now; we can't worry about anything else," Reid said.

"I tell 'em we're going to play 'til the end," defensive end Trent Cole said, when asked what he tells younger players, in such a desperate situation. "Encourage everybody to play to the end. Play it like it's your last game, because anything can happen in the NFL."

Quarterback Michael Vick was among a number of people, including Reid, whio did not wish to delve into the reasons for the Birds' 1-5 home record this season.

"We can always change that around, starting this week," Vick said. "We can't do anything about the past, we can't change it. It's all about what we do in the future."

Vick said he doesn't know if his sore ribs will feel better than they felt last week in Miami, but he is hopeful.

I like you Mike, a lot, but if you don't win these last 2 home games then we are getting out QB of the future this offseason.

If Tapp can't play, then this is an unwinnable game. Too bad.

Anybody thinking that we have any shot of being in the playoffs this year doesn't have a functional brainpan. To me it has been a forgone conclusion after the first five games (1-4). The fact that we have not been "mathmatically eliminated" is downright laughable. We used up ALL of our allowable miracles a couple of years aqo with that last day finsh when we went from dead to winning the Division when two IMPOSSIBLE games went our way. I'm still thankful for THAT one...but we were a much more deserving team THEN than we are now. I am quite curious as to what will transpire during this off-season. Andy WILL be back.....but will he be forced to throw Juan to the wolves? Or will Andy see the error of his ways, accept responsibility for hoisting his good friend to the Pinnacle of his Peter Principal Position, and somewhat reluctantly, get him the hell outta Dodge and get a GOOD DC in here?? Ladies and Gentlemen, would you please fasten your seatbelts, as we WILL be moving into some turbulent air!

ALL these players - whether they play for the Colts, Packers or Eagles are making a fantastic income. Even the lowly rookie FA is likely making more $ than most, if not all, of the readers of this page.

So ... there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for any player in this league to be anything less than grateful, and give anything less than his best, game in and game out. PERIOD.
