Three more injuries at Eagles camp

POSTED: Monday, August 2, 2010, 2:33 PM

The trainers' cart was busy again this afternoon at Eagles practice.

Defensive tackle Antonio Dixon returned to the locker room and needed help to get inside. He was hit in the head.

Defensive back Macho Harris appeared to tweak a hamstring and was taken inside as well.

Guard Stacy Andrews did not practice in the afternoon session with a shoulder problem.

Meanwhile, tight end Brent Celek returned.

Celek left the morning session with dehydration, the second Eagle to miss practice time with dehydration. Max-Jean Gilles was the other.

Jean-Gilles missed time Sunday but returned this morning.

“They pumped a lot of electrolytes in me, a lot of electrolytes," he said. "The water couldn’t go down, but every time I tried to throw up Gatorade, they just kept pumping some more so it could stay down.”

EARLIER:

Ernie Sims isn't in Detroit anymore.

After experiencing the struggles of the Lions, including a winless season, Sims is happy to be with the Eagles and with a team with high hopes.

“Expectations are a whole lot higher and I’m happy about that," Sims said. "I like when the pressure’s on me and like I said I’m just excited for the season to start, I’m ready.”

Sims said Eagles camp has the same type of intensity as he was accustomed to with the Lions.

"Everybody is so eager," he said. "They’re happy about the season starting and they’re [chomping at the bit]. It’s just a different team, that’s pretty much what it is. I’m just happy to be in Philadelphia.”

Sims also said he puts high demands on himself.

“I’m my toughest critic," he said. If I make a mistake on film I’m grading myself. The coaches don’t have to tell, they’re going to tell me regardless, but I’m always making a mental note of my mistakes. I’m trying to get better and better, so that I can help this team and help this defense out.”

Simms will finally be the LB that the Eagles need to cover the TE and he is a tackling machine. Ernie Simms has the speed, quickness and awarness to be one of the best in the NFL. I believe he will have a pro bowl year with the eagles because he is in a system that fits him.

Simms is a "florida boy" they eat sleep and breathe football from the day they come out the womb. I can't wait to see him when things go live.

I'm an Eagle-hater, but unlike Eagles fans I would never applaud opponents' injuries. Looks like Eagles are quickly lining up to be a fifth-place team in a four-team division.

I usually go to Lehigh every year, and don't ever remember a team stretching drill to start or end a practice. Doesn't mean they don't do it, but does anyone have a recollection of stretching?

Please, stop these contact drills in this heat or we'll have no team come September.

@JerseyExit63 Go back to the NY media outlets. Please. You're embarrassing yourself. You would never applaud an opponents injuries but you would be quick to point them out to make yourself feel better about your team? Weak dude, weak. And "a fifth-place team in a four-team division"? You can do better than that. Please crawl back in your hole and come back when the teams are playing real games during the season, or not at all. Preferably the latter.

Offensive Line is thin and getting thinner by the day. Wait until the replacement centers start going down.

Giants and Dallas are the team this year. Forget the Eagles. They both have the better offense and defense the Eagles. Sorry for this team, it will be in last place.

This is nothing out of the ordinary. Muscles and ligaments can get tweaked as bodies adjust and get back into football shape. None of these injuries sound serious enough to result in lost playing time in week 1.
