Samuel, Parker, Vick all should be good to go for Cowboys

Andy Reid said both cornerback Asante Samuel and defensive end Juqua Parker should be good to go Sunday night for the Eagles’ important NFC East game against the Cowboys.

Both players have missed the last two games with injuries, Samuel with an MCL sprain in his left knee and Parker with a hip-pointer. But on his weekly radio show on WIP Monday, Reid said he expects them to be able to practice Wednesday when his team begins preparing for the Cowboys.

``I think they will be (ready),’’ Reid said. ``They both seem to be getting healthy. I think they’ll be out there and ready to go for practice.’’

Reid also said that quarterback Michael Vick will be ready to go on Wednesday. He’s been receiving treatment for a bruised quadricep after taking a helmet in the leg in Thursday’s 34-24 win over the Houston Texans. But the Eagles coach said it’s nothing serious.

``He’s doing great,’’ he said. ``Back and ready to roll.’’

Reid reiterated that he’s not happy with the way the officials are letting defenders take shots at Vick that, in his opinion, would draw flags if the quarterback was someone less mobile, like, say, Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.

Reid said Friday that he had complained to the league about the hits Vick has been taking. He wouldn’t say Monday whether he had heard back from the league.

``I can’t tell you what I told the league,’’ he said.

``It’s important that you focus in on the position and the rules that pertain to that position, not who’s playing it,’’ he added. ``We went through it a little bit with Donovan (McNabb). Donovan ran around a little bit when he was younger.

``They treat them like they’re half-running back and half-quarterback. And that’s not the position. They’re playing the quarterback position.

``If they choose to run, that’s part of their game. Whatever goes for the other quarterbacks needs to go for the quarterbacks that are going to run. Steve Young went through the same thing. Guys are getting away with hits that shouldn’t be taking place.

``You’ve got to make sure you take care of these guys. They’re an important part of your offense.’’
