Police: Akeem Jordan arrested in Virginia

POSTED: Monday, June 20, 2011, 5:40 PM

Eagles linebacker Akeem Jordan was arrested in connection with an incident in Harrisonburg, Va., early Sunday and charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, according to the Harrisonburg Police Department.

Jordan, 25, is a Harrisonburg native and played at James Madison University.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Firetap Bar and Grill on Evelyn Byrd Avenue at 2 a.m.

“They got into a verbal altercation, which led to a physical disorderly incident,” said police spokeswomen Mary-Hope Vass. “The incident was reported to us on Sunday afternoon. The victim went to the magistrate and obtained the warrant. Jordan turned himself in Sunday without any issues.”

Jordan was released on his own recognizance yesterday.

“It’s always unfortunate when these things happen,” Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, Jordan’s agent, said. “Circumstances happen, but I’m confident it will be figured out.

“He is cooperating fully. Getting into the details doesn’t help anybody, it impedes the process. I stand behind the kid 100 percent. He’s a first-class kid, but you always wish these things never happen. He’s got a great track record as a citizen.”

An Eagles spokesman said the team is aware of the reports and will not have any further comment.

Asked the severity of the victim’s injuries, Vass said, “It was nothing life-threatening.”

The victim being referred to the magistrate is not unusual, Vass said.

“A lot of times if there is not probable cause or a case like this that happened hours before and there is no physical evidence, we refer to victim to go to the magistrate and get their warrant,” she said.

The Eagles did not tender Jordan a contract before the lockout began.

Very funny... but if he had, I'm sure we would read a story today about Bradley getting hurt and how he was on his way to a great season before he suffered another "unfortunate injury."

Face it fans, Bradley isn't too good and showed it on more than one occassion last year when it looked like he was wearing rollerskates while getting used as a practice dummy.

No matter how good a person you are, trouble will find you at 2AM, outside a bar.

Jordan and King Dunlop must be co-graduates from the School of Bad Timing.

A team we can all be proud of. Its the gold standard at its best. PacMan, OJ, we welcome you too. There is so much un-tapped talent we are missing in the penitentiaries. Why doesn't Andy have Scouts in Graterford?

I'm sure if the "Victim" started and was the winner of the fight he still would have gone to the magistrate for hope of a cash settlement.

Andy will welcome any criminal on his team. He's trying to send a message to his kids that everyone deserves a second chance. His kids only carried weapons and drugs before smashing into an old lady and ruining her life. Jordan will fit right in.

If only he hit like this on the field, he'd be all pro.

Any player in trouble can just go visit Tony Dungee, then Dungee speaks to Lurie about the situation and Dungee's words are considered the word of god. A player can do any evil deed, see Dungee, and all is good again. And the urban hoodlums on this site quickly rally to defend their criminal bros.

Sounds like a whole lot of nothing, probably a little pushing and shoving then the guy finds out the next day that Jordan is a pro athlete so he reports it thinking that he can make some money out of it.

Another Eagles player Arrested.......... This is how many now for the team. This team should play football in jail. They don't belong in the NFL! Lurie should be ashamed of himself for selecting morons like these players and a Dog Killer. And he expects to win a Super Bowl. Many you should try another sport.....Lurie!
