Reid: 'They Outplayed Us in Every Phase'

POSTED: Sunday, October 18, 2009, 7:28 PM

Andy Reid was not in the mood for many questions today, making a quick statement and then heading out of his press conference with an "Ok, we're done here" following the Eagles' 13-9 loss to the lowly Raiders.

"The Raiders outcoached us and they outplayed us in every phase of the game," Reid said. "They did a heck of a job and we didn't."

And, "They blocked better, they tackled better, they blitzed better, they did it all. No. 1, they coached better. Tom did a heck of a job, getting his team ready to play. We all had a piece, starting with me. We all did not do a good enough job."

And, "They were a better football team than us today."

Offensively, the Eagles were wildly skewed to the pass with 46 pass attempts and 14 rushes.

Left tackle Jason Peters went out early with a sprained knee and will have an MRI tomorrow. King Dunlap replaced him, meaning Jamal Jackson was the only one of the projected starters from training camp in the game.

Linebacker Omar Gaither had a sprained foot and Victor Abiamiri had a sprained knee. Both will have MRIs.

If only Andy had put his players in better position to make plays. That is what cost this team the game. Andy did not put his players in a better position to make plays. If Andy had put his players in better positions to make plays, they would have made plays and won the game. He needs to do a better job of that. They should work on it.

LOL AreaMan. How many times have we heard that before? Fire Reid. Replace Mcnabb. It's time to turn the page on this era.

Yeah, offense line is struggling, so Reid calls 46 pass attempts. Nothing like giving your young lineman a chance with easy run plays. Let's throw 46 teams, letting the Raiders pin their ears back and torture the line. Mcnabb missed some throws but he was constantly under pressure and Reid did him no favors with the play calling. What good is a play pass when you don't run the ball? The Raiders were dropping 6/7 guys in coverage, Mcnabb really had no chance.

Lonewolf 10, As usual, you're full of it. Of course, a one-note, hare-brained scoundrel like yourself will blame this on McNabb when we had: two missed FG's, receivers that did not beat one-on-one press coverage, multiple dropped passes, atrocious line play, mediocre (at best) defense. But, of course, you go right to McNabb - idiot! Kolb has played fine, but he probably would've been sacked 10 or more times.

How could the Raiders have been dropping 6/7 guys in coverage when they were blitzing on every play?

Here come all the knee-jerk reactions from the fans who's pathetic lives ride on the fortunes of the Eagles week in and week out. They played poorly and will bounce back. They also don't care if you give up your tickets, boo them or spend the week spewing 4th grade insults at them on this board.

I guess the wildcat is done...if they really thought it would work they would use it in a game like this...they stunk on both sides of the ball...and special teams

Well i guess my first comment didnt post. The Eagles totally underestimated the raiders. Who had a pretty good defence and a stought run game up until the NY game. It was an embarassment and it is what the eagles needed. Stop being so cocky, and play angry like they did the end of last season. Play every team like they can beat us, and dont lift the foot off they're throats until the final whistle. Oh and it was great to see Dmac pull a Chris Webber.. UNREAL!

They should also try the triple option since we like gimmicks now, anything is better than the wild peacock we use.
