Reid: Let's keep going

The Eagles are heading to the NFC title game for the fifth time in 8 years after their victory over the New York Giants and are not planning on stopping there. The Eagles face Arizona next Sunday at 3 p.m. and will open as a three-point favorite, according to Daily News handicapper Vegas Vic. “I’m glad to be here. I want to keep going and this football team wants to keep going and this football team is going to work our tail off to do that,” coach Andy Reid said in his postgame news conference.

Other thoughts from Reid:

On the defense and coordinator Jim Johnson: "People say I like to throw the ball and do all that stuff, but you know you win games on defense in the National Football League. If you don’t play good defense, you’re going to struggle. I've got the best defensive coordinator in the National Football League ... Him being almost a 100 years old, he's kept everthing fresh. He was up in the box today, with his back aching a little bit. Coach Paterno was a good example."

On whether the Eagles' defense is the best in the league: “I’ll put them up against anybody.”

On Donovan McNabb: “I’ve got to do a better job of getting him in rhythm ... He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League. I’m partial, but I think he is the best quarterback and he’s been that way for a long time.”

On McNabb's confidence: "I think he trusts all the guys around him. He worked very hard all season with them. He’s playing confident football, not only throwing the ball, but managing the game."

On playing the Cardinals: "We’ll enjoy this one for a little bit, then we have to get our minds set for Arizona. They did a heck of a job against Carolina yesterday. They’re a heck of a football team."

On the stops on fourth down: "I thought it was a great job by our defense. It was hard to see what happened with the jumping around like a mosh pit ... It was a good job with penetration."
