Despite a fourth-quarter collapse in the loss to Tennessee, Eagles coach Andy Reid was looking on the bright side as he met with the media today.
“It’s a crazy league,” Reid said. “We’re sitting there 4-3 and we’re right there in the hunt in a good way. I know I’ve got a good football team.
“We have to knock a couple of things out here and get it straight. I’m looking forward to the week off and getting the guys a little bit of rest, the scouts doing evaluations and coming back for 9 games of good football. That is where I’m at right now.”
“I saw some great things in that game. We need to build off them and learn from our mistakes. We’re going to do that and get that thing right.”
Reid repeated often no excuses, doing a better job and learning from the mistakes.

“It’s easy to see that one or two plays can swing the momentum of the game,” Reid said. “You have to be able to overcome that. You have to eliminate mistakes and overcome situations like that. Those are situations that we can learn from and we will. We will go back and use this bye week to evaluate ourselves as coaches and evaluate ourselves as players and as a football team and do a thorough, thorough evaluation on that.”
Reid said he thought Michael Vick would be ready to play against Indianapolis after missing the last two games with a rib cartilage injury. Reid said Vick is “improving, he’s getting healthier”
“If he is, he is. I’m thinking he is,” Reid said. “I have full trust in Kevin Kolb as does our football team. I’m not too worried about that. Right now, it looks like he’s on track. We’ll see here.”
Among other injuries, Reid said DeSean Jackson has yet to be cleared with a concussion but Reid said he thought he, defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley and offensive tackle Jason Peters “have a pretty good chance” to play against the Colts.
Antonio Dixon played well and has recorded a sack in Bunkley’s spot in each of the last two games.
“I don’t think Bunk will be 100 percent coming back and Antonio will be in there a lot anyway,” Reid said. “We will have to spoon-feed Bunk and see how much he can do. Dixon was a bright spot in that game. He will continue to have opportunity. With Bunk’s injury, it will be easing them back in. We can’t tell how that is going to do until he gets out there and really grabs somebody.”
As for Peters, “If you talk to doctors and talk to Jason, they’d say yes, but we’ll see what happens.”
Reid credited King Dunlap for being “a warrior” and staying in the game despite a knee injury. Dunlap, if available, would remain in Peters’ spot, if Peters turns out not to be ready. If Dunlap is not able to play, Todd Herremans would likely slide over to tackle from left guard. Dunlap has a bone bruise in addition to the hyperextension of his right knee. Reid acknowledged Dunlap might not be back for the Colts game.

Reid was asked why the defense could not figure a way to stop Titans receiver Kenny Britt.
“We’ve all got a little piece of that. The easy thing to do is point to the guy that’s covering him,” Reid said. “We can mix things up better. There are so many things besides that we needed to take care of and we didn’t do. That’s my responsibility to reel that thing in and we didn’t do it. When given opportunities, you need to put your foot down.”
Reid was later asked about defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.
“I thought Sean had a heck of a game plan. Doggone it,” Reid said. “That’s’ a good football team right there. For three quarters, we had it right there. It’s not all about the offense, it’s not all about the defense. Everybody has an opportunity. We have to make sure we secure that up and finish things off.”

But he is not a Level 5 leader that can take them to GREATNESS! Neither is the ownership. Where is Reid's team that is good? It's not in Philadelphia. Is the Big Guy talking about his fantasy league team? I can't wait until the next draft, when Andy takes more speedy, pint-sized players that no other team would touch, and then fill out his last-minute, waiver-wire offensive line! - Mabus, you're making every Reid detractors point. Every year we see the same thing and the same refusal to address it. His players, his coaches, his poor time management and his need to control everything (that's why he surrounds himself with yes men)We've tried it his way, time to give someone else a shot.
Comment removed.- Crazy eyes open 'em up. If you did you'd see that the big picture is that people still care about this team so excuse us for not being satisfied. And the big picture is that Andy has hit his ceiling, seemingly. No progress since 2004. Good not great. That's fine if you are fine wiht that, but once you've gotten to good, what's wrong with wanting great? What's wrong with wanting things to really be fixed, insteead of lip service? An emotional response to one loss? oh if it were only one loss, instead of the same movie, year after year. Go ahead and call it hate, call it blowing things out of proportion. - The team is the second youngest roster in the league... It's no excuse but it does mean there will be high and lows. This team will come back strong after the bye, like every other AR team, and will make a push going into the gauntlet of quarterbacks and division games we have left.— eaglegreen22
