Reid: Dr. Thinks Herremans Will Be OK

POSTED: Thursday, June 3, 2010, 4:46 PM

Eagles coach Andy Reid said Thursday that he isn't concerned about any of the team's recent injuries, other than the obviously serious ruptured Achilles' tendon suffered by safety Marlin Jackson.

Reid said left guard Todd Herremans had some soreness in his left foot, which was repaired last August, so Herremans went to see foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte today. Reid said Herremans sought Anderson's opinion last year, before undergoing surgery by Dr. Steven Raikin of the Rothman Institute at Jefferson.

"The doctor thinks it's going to be all right," Reid said, presumably referring to Anderson.

"That happens, you get a little cramp here and a cramp there," Reid said, when asked about the "tweaks" that have taken middle linebacker Stewart Bradley (calf) and running back LeSean McCoy (ankle) out of this week's OTA. "Other than (Jackson), I'm not concerned."

"I'm fine with depth. We have plenty of people in those spots who can play."

Bradley attended the Eagles Youth Partnership's Playground Build at Wister Elementary in Germantown, wearing a white pressure stocking on his left leg, with a diagonal strip of tape supporting his calf muscle. Bradley said he feels he jut got dehydrated and his muscle seized up during Tuesday's workout. He's taking some time off, to be cautious, he said.

"My leg just cramped up, really," he said.

Herremans, meanwhile, Tweeted from Charlotte that "the beef brisket down here is off the chain!!"

Previously, Herremans Tweeted: "just a  checkup. Making sure everything looks good."

Today's playground build at Wister  Elementary was one of the most ambitious the Eagles have undertaken -- the Germantown school has a much larger concrete play area than previous schools.

"It was a huge yard with nothing on it," said Eagles Youth Partnership Executive Director Sarah Martinez-Helfman. Murals, a play structure, a turf field, and gardens were added.

Martinez-Helfman was excited about the Partnership's partial sponsoring of a "socialized recess coordinator" to work full time at the school in the fall.

Anybody that has foot problems severe enough to need surgery will tell you that it NEVER, ever feels good again. It will be a matter of playing through whatever pain he can tolerate, while not causing more actual damage FROM normal playing. Good luck to one of the two REAL O-Liners left on this offense.

Herremans was just jonesin for some brisket after a long workout "session". Big on that news, as the most consistent anchor of the o-line we can't afford to lose him. Watch out for Lehigh Valley's finest at training camp this year Todd... (HTML deleted)

Dr. Andy with some more medical opinions of his players. He's a real Marcus Welby.

tunde25798: Last year we had a QB whose skills didn't fit the offense, a bunch of injuries & ineptitude at LB, no safety. Granted we had a corner, but were without a center for 4 (?) games. Now, we don't have a corner and are probably out of a center for about 8 games. Other than that... Bradley's back, we picked up Sims, overloaded at DE; somebody is bound to be a stud there, we have a QB perfect for the West Coast Offense now, not to mention all of the offensive rookies or second year players gained an extra year of experience. I think it is fair to say all that is "several improvements" despite the loss of our #2 CB and center for a few games.

When it comes to injuries, A.R. is incapable of being completely honest. He will never tell the true extent of the injury until the player has to go under the knife. That way he has no pressure to bring in a high priced free agent and he can rely on his "depth"

Igglesblog has an article citing Antonio Gates heading to NC to see the Dr. James Andrews of Foot Drs. Coincidentally, Herremans is heading to NC about a foot problem to see a "Specialist", and nowhere can anyone find an article that provides Herremans' Foot Dr.'s name. This is, how you say?, NOT GOOD!

Padded stats? Um...Why don't you list the QBs that did better and QBs that did worse than him in those same situations against those same teams? Peyton Manning pops up about even with Kolb, Tom Brady well below him, Philip Rivers; right on par.

TouchdoqnMachine - lay off the man crush a bit until games start please. No one in their right mind can say getting rid of a pro bowl QB for someone who has 2 career starts is an improvement. This team is rebuilding plain and simple. If you believe Fat Andy and Co. telling you that they aren't then ur drunk off the Kool Aid. Sit back, relax, and let it all play out. I wouldn't go as far as saying "several improvements" either my friend...more lile retooling.
