Reid said Eagles are not soft team

Here are some quick notes from Andy Reid's day-after news conference today following the loss to the Bears:
* Safety Nate Allen has a concussion. Left guard Evan Mathis has turf toe and will "struggle to practice tomorrow."
* Right at the start of the presser, Reid was asked whether the Eagles are a soft team. His one-word reply, "No."
* Asked if the players are angry, Reid said "they're disappointed."
* Reid said the Eagles are a "real good football team" if they don't committ turnovers and penalties. "I don't think people are stopping us. We're stopping oursleves. We have to take care of that. That's what we can control." Reid said the turnovers and penalties but the Eagles again, "whether he agrees with the [penalties] or not." He said the fake punt should be included in the turnovers.
* Reid continued to express confidence in his team. "I've seen this football team play good football. We are going to get this right and continue to play good football." At another point, he said, "I know how good we can be. As coaches and players we need to make sure we can do this consistently. ... That's my responsibility to get this done."
* Defensively, Reid said the Eagles need to get off the field on third down and need to convert on offense on third down.
* Asked specifically about Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who will face his former team this week, Reid said, "He's working on it."
* Reid said the Eagles need to do a better job of putting DeSean Jackson in position to make play. He said Jackson was not open last night. Reid, asked about whether Jackson is playing not to get hurt, because of his contract situation, said, "I don't think so."
* Reid said Brandon Graham played well in his first action of the season. "I thought he did some good things," Reid said. "There’s a bit of rust he’s got to knock off, but he did some good things.”

The Eagles have signed tight end Brett Brackett to the practice squad. Brackett replaces TE Anthony Hill, who was signed by the Indianapolis Colts.
Brackett, a native of Lawrence, NJ, was signed as a rookie free agent by the Miami Dolphins in 2011 and spent time on Jacksonville’s practice squad. The 6-5, 246-pound Brackett played collegiately at Penn State, where he caught 39 passes for 525 yards and five touchdowns as a senior wide receiver in 2010.
Can we just keep the talent we have and get rid of Andy and the Three Stooges and start over? A new owner who will staff the front office with actual football people and not accountants? I am so sick of his press conferences where he says nothing. I would like to see him have one and the media not show up. All they would need to do is piece together clips of the past 13 seasons and have his full conference. blackknight
Why is Reid never held accountable by Laurie? Week after week, he says he has to do a better job. If I had performed my job as poorly as Reid, I would have been fired immediately. As long as Laurie can sell tickets, fill the stands, sell merchandise and get television revenue, he will never care about winning the SB. He really does not care about the fans.

Reality: No pressure on Cutler, Vick knocked down almost every pass play, allowed over 150 yards run.
Andy says: we're a really good team.

Poor coaching is evident in every 4th quarter where the Eagles are are dead last in point differential. They're a -36, even worst than the winless Colts. farley
they are soft, small and poorly coached. coloradoeagle
They sure are not hard! Chief_Negotiator
This all come down to Defense, Period. When you allow 30 Points in the NFL, you deserve to lose. Unless you are the Packers with an emerging legendary Quarterback, you cannot afford to give up 30 points. The Eagles look like they have an Offensive line coach as their Def. Coordinator! shady24
No, they're not soft. They simply s**k. CiceroSpuriousDeodatus
Why does he always say the same thing? His press conferences are a waste of time! KarenD
The truth is that the Eagles are in rebuilding mode. Yes, I know that's the unspeakable word here in Philly, but it is true. Anyone with any knowledge of football who has watched the sport over the years knows this. The problem is that we are conditioned to want it all and want it now. Folks, we are not going to the Superbowl. We need to face that and anybody who went to training camp knows this. As Eagles fans our mission is to root for the team and hope like we did through all of those miserable years in the 70s and some in the 80s that over the next two years the personnel issues will be addressed and we can make a run in 2012 or 2013. Let's go birds! Steven_H
REID NEEDS TO GO!!! Thirteeen years is enough. Lurie- Stop being enamored by this coach. HE CAN'T WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!
Need I say more???? mrjarn
Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden- are you out there??????????????????? mrjarn
SHOCKING journalistic insight. He said "NO." Who saw that coming??? joeibt
Smart as a whip...Reid has us all fooled, he is a coach for the ages, takes full responsibility week after week , must get his players prepared just about every week to play, plays to his owners GOLDEN STANDARD, ADHERES TO EVERYTHING BANNER and LURIE SAY, and to top it all off he has hired an defensive coordinator to take the fall yet another year, no doubt the scapegoat when this debacle of a season is over, Reid will no doubt be around a 14th year to trade down, scoop up all the 5th 6th 7th round picks he so deserves....oh the thought, think it's time to cancel the IGGLES viewing time before Thanksgiving PhillyPhilly
Two Words. NEVER EVER. As long as FFAR is coaching this team, they will NEVER EVER win a Super Bowl. Can't tackle, Can't cover, can't protect, can't catch. Coaching, Coaching, Coaching and lack thereof. momzer1812
