Reid "did not hear" 'Fire Andy' chants
Daily News Staff
Several big issues emerged from Andy Reid’s postgame news conference:
First, Reid said he did not hear the “Fire, Andy Reid” chants at the Linc.
“I didn’t hear them,” he said. “I don’t hear much down there. The way we played I can understand it.”
Second, the issues surrounding DeSean Jackson seem to continue. A report from the sideline indicated that Jackson was benched for poor performance.
“I just wanted to give the other guys an opportunity,” Reid said.
Asked if Jackson was benched, Reid said, “I wanted to give the other guys a chance to make a play.”
Asked later if he was satisfied with how Jackson played, Reid said, “I already answered that.”
Jackson, when speaking to reporters at his locker, said, "It was the decision that was made. As a player, I just have to live with it."
Jackson, on the two drops: "Things happen sometimes. It wasn’t one of my best games as far as a couple of plays I could have had ... At the end of the day, I didn’t come up with any … No excuses behind that."
Reid was again asked whether he stands by the decision to hire Juan Castillo as defensive coordinator.
“You didn’t ask me that last week. If we have bad game, I guess you feel comfortable asking. We have to do a better job all the way around.”
On why Michael Vick was not on the sideline: “He was in pain and I am not going to have him stand out there while he was in pain.”
On the Eagles continuing struggle on third down: “That’s on me. We have to figure it out. If I could answer that, I’d end it. We have to keep working on fundamentals and doing things that you know are right. That’s how you go about it.”

On why Nnamdi Asomugha was active for the game: “He felt like he could play a limited role and we could use him to cover the tight ends. We had a package in for him where he did that.”
Overall: “Obviously the Patriots were a better team than we were. You can’t have as many penalties and turnovers. That’s my responsibility. I have to make sure I take care of it.”
More: “I’m disappointed in a lot of things. That’s where I start with myself … Ask me any disappointment question you want, that’s where I am.”
On defending Brady: “Juan tried to mix it up. There wasn’t a lot of things working. He was getting the ball out fast. His receivers did a nice job.”
On passing the ball on fourth-and-1 at the goal line: “I thought that was the best thing to do. Obviously, it didn’t work.”
On why he remains confident that the problems can be fixed, “We have to take care of the penalties and turnovers and play a little tighter on the defensive side … None of us can predict the future. There are a lot of different variable. We have to keep fighting. That’s what you do right now.”
Honestly, I can't remember beating a good AFC team? Please, when was The Eagles last win over a good AFC team? lagunners
Andy needs a new scriptwriter... The best part was Juan "Mixing it up". Puh-leeze... It has been apparent that Juan has been mixed up since he's been in the DC. As far as positions, Andy has been the head coach for enough years and has had ample opportunity. At the end of each season, there is always an excuse, usually summed up with the patented comment, "We have to figure out how to do better."
Time for some changes... It is quite clear that what we have been doing is not working. PhillyfaninFL- Of course he didn't hear the chant; he was calling his order into Pat's
Remember when some Eagles fans said McNabb was as good as Brady. In fact I saw the Governer say a few weeks back that Vick was better. People you were watching a real Hall of Famer out there today, not a flash in the pan. watsonmr
He's learned to drown them out. Seriously this guy is so arrogant he'll probably be totally shocked when he gets canned on Monday or Tuesday. Phils_World_Champs
He didn't hear it probably because his head was up his fat A_ _ boppa2
His comments are priceless. We'll miss them when he's gone. Steve Jeltz
Well maybe after 13 seasons this merry-go-round is finally coming to a stop. We can all finally get off and puke. Lil Ratman
The real pain is yet to come-the past 2 seasons of worthless draft selections from the accountant faux GM. Those players should now be coming into their own as NFL players, instead........
Did anyone else spot good old Asante yukking it up on the sidelines with the big smile and laugh?
In this perspective, Andy is having a well earned legacy of good football go right down the toilet with this bunch of losers on this football team......those years with Donovan throwing low into the dirt are starting to look like the good ole days!
One way to get some of these players in a better position: get them seated on the next Greyhound out of town.........
One thing a Philadelphia fan won't tolerate is a lack of effort. When a player dons that uniform, they represent this city, this area, these fans. Players laughing it up on the sideline, who alligator arm a pass to them, who do not give maximum effort at all times disgrace the uniform and the all-time greats who once wore it..... DelawareRiverRat
Jeffrey has to know that the fans will 1) stop buying merchandise and 2) stop talking about the team. As long as the moron fans do this, he keeps laughing his way to the bank. You don't really think he's going to pay Reid's salary and another one as well do you? Ignore the team, IGNORE THEM. Let the little wiseguy walk as well. BigMike100
Predicted the pats would win easily twice this week. Brady is among the best at QB and Belichick is also at the top of his craft.
If Belichick was here with McNabb, the Eagles would have won Super Bowls.
Typical Andy wanted to pass away against the Pats depleted secondary.
The only chance the Eagles have to beat the Pats is to keep Brady off the field. You need long time consuming drives with more running to be less predictable. Once the Eagles became predictable the game was over.
Can't believe fans would pay money to see this slop. The fans need to boycott the remaining home games and hurt lurie in the pocketbook with no food concession or parking money.
Wake up Jeff, they had a shot of you in your booth looking thru binoculars.
Do we need to telestrate every play to see how badly the Eagles were outplayed and outcoached. The Eagles haven't won a home game in forever. Your team is a pathetic embarrassment.

Bad scouting, bad pro player personnel decisions, bad drafting, bad cap managment, bad pr, bad coaching, bad players, bad performance = "The Fool's Gold Standard" andyd
He might not have heard "Fire Andy" but he must have heard "Andy S U C K S!" Drew777
About the Daily News comments section, Reid said, "Obviously, they know more than Juan and I do. Time's yours." kjuggs77
